So a question for those who are familiar with the Norinco M305,

I am most likely going to buy one and I see that they are for sale online in 308, as opposed to 7.62.

Is it genuinely 308? or is chambered in 7.62 and stamped as 308, because someone in the manufacturing part thinks that they are same.

I ask because I will most likely be taking it hunting also, and I would prefer it in 308, since that is much more common of a round.

any insight would be great.

I've run both 7.62Nato and 308 Winchester through my M14, no issues. I've also ran handloads through it & taken two deer.

They are a very fun gun!

Cheers
Jay

They have military chambers....that means it would be larger than standard .308 chamber.

Having said that you should be fine shooting .308, the latest batch had a little bit tighter chambers than the previous lot.

The .308 stamping is there to get around the fact that 7.62 is a military designation....now the gun is a whole lot safer because it is a .308 and not a 7.62......politics, screws everyone.
