Norinco M305 quality question

Springfield M1A receivers are made from investment cast AISI 8620 alloy steel. Not aware of any systemic quality issues. I think Chinese casting with insufficient QA is the issue.

The real issue is that we know the forged guns are 8620 from actual testing. The 2016+ cast receivers haven't been tested. We don't yet know what they are made of, how they were heat treated, or how they will hold up. also, they leave a lot of surfaces as-cast so they are little on the ugly side.

All this MIM bolts shearing lugs got me second guessing myself...... I bought this unit 3 maybe 4yrs ago, only because I smelt the storm of stupid coming our way in the near future. Field stripped it, put an M14 op rod & spring and shimmed the gas system, gave it a function test and put it away, never seen the light of day until today.

I'm sure the bolt and receiver are forged but an expert reaffirmation would be nice! And what is the code on the receiver #'s? I see it was made in May but how do you get the year? DOH!!

It's going to see some rounds this week, kinda forgot about it........
