Norinco M4 dealers

AFAIK the only AR with a 20" barrel that is readily available at retail is the Stag Model 4. The Norinco CQ 311-1 is not available at retail any more.

Either get the stag, or wait for an AR you like to pop up on the EE.

Thanks.
Its not that I really want the 20" model it's I dont want to get back into restricted weapons again or more accurately I dont want to be confined to a club setting when I go shooting with my kids!

SO that leaves me with the M4 or JR Carbine as my basic affordable next weapon. I would prefer the Tavor!!!!

Thanks.

20" barreled AR is restricted in this day and age, has been since the mid 90's.

All AR-15's and variants are restricted by name. they were actually meant to be prohibited but some of the shooting orgs managed to convince the government to only restrict them.

I think i read it was a choice between the FAL, and the AR, anf obviously they chose the AR.

Yep, restricted by name, so even if the gun would meet all other requirements for non restricted status, it would still be restricted by this factor alone.

To the OP: Have you looked into the Kel-Tec SU-16, or .223 CSA VZ-58 models?

Thanks.

Unfortunately the AR-15 has been named as restricted for almost 2 decades (on and off a few times)...

There are some options though... The CSA VZ 58 carbines are non-restricted and available in .223, under $1000. Also there is the Mini 14 (much more accurate and an improved version), Kel Tec SU-16, and Benelli MR-1. The Benelli is around $1500, but the others are all under $1000.

All AR's restricted? One strike against the noob...

Just looked at the Kel Tec & MR-1. Both very nice.
But due to availability locally im going to focus on the Mini 14 or Jr Carbine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone & setting me straight on the M4.

You may want to entertain the idea of keltec su-16 too. It can be dressed up very ar15ish, and is non-restricted.

I have the Mforgery, but if I were looking for a 20" AR to shoot over those lovely irons the way it was inteneded, it would be one of those Stag's from Arms East.

I believe they were the Government model, Model 4R 20" 1/7" 556NATO, looked like the original C-7 service rifle circa somalia 1992. I'm not sure if they are avaliable anymore. I like the fixed a2 butt as well on these.

As has been sudgested already, I'd look at the SU-16F as it's non-restricted and can def be dressed up or down. I had mine at the range yesterday and let one fellows boy shoot it and the next thing I knew, I had a line of kids that wanted to shoot it. It looks almost like an AR so the kids thought they were Chuck Norris!!

With the LAR-15 mags, I gave each kid 10 shots and each one had a smile a mile wide when done. I didn't get much shooting in but it was worth it. I remember when i first was handed a rifle and allowed to let er rip!! Here's why the kids loved it.
