Norinco M4 Last Shot

Man, I was waiting for someone like you to chime in...every single Norinco thread has one of you Chinese bashers in it.

There are not "a lot of problems"...the ONLY problem I am hearing about is the bolt not staying open on the last round. If you can find posts or links to all the other "lots of problems", feel free to share...

wow dude really? What he said was pretty civil. Come on though, you dont thinkt that like 4-5 who posted in this one thread on here having problems can't be extrapolated to much more then that who didn't post? (not everyone gun owner in canada uses CGN and even someone that do aren't all that active)
I would say that this many people in such a small sampling is "a lot of problems". But hey thats just my opinion. I've also noticed that when someone is attached to a brand or product the crappier it is the more they get defensive about it (not saying the norinco ar is crappy it's just something i've noticed).

OK fair enough...reading my post now, maybe I did jump on him a bit. Was in a foul mood this morning, maybe that's why. My apologies...

Anyway, not trying to argue but based on your logic, that means based on the at least 50 or so posts about people's Norinco AR running flawlessly, they must be pretty damn good! :D

Maybe I do get a little defensive about Norinco stuff...I just can't stand the whole "won't buy anything made in China" mentality...

Ok guys i have a question. I just got my norc m4. You are are saying these lar 15 mags let you hold 10 rounds of .223? and if so where can i get one? That would be awesome if you can hold 10 rounds of 223.

Ok now that we are getting off track does anybody have a solution to the question of last shot and not staying open??

Hey, for all you guys whose bolt is not staying back, next time you're at the range try holding the bolt catch with your thumb and see if it holds open. Mine will hold open everytime if I do but otherwise, no matter what mags I use, it won't work...

I'd like to know if everyone else has this same problem.

Check the bolt open lever, if it is too tight, the magazine follower cannot push it upwards to hold the bolt carrier back at the last round.

Take the upper off, insert a magazine into the lower and see if the magazine follower is pushing the bolt open lever upwards.

Tried this already. Mag pushes the follower up no problem. Also if I have an empty mag in and pull the charging handle, it locks back. Only when firing a round does it not lock... It's weird though cos I know it's cycling all the way because it will lock if I hold the bolt catch down. Could it be cycling too fast??

A ++ on that tip. I've just read through all the posts and this would be my first investigation point too.

It could be a mild under gasing situation- start shooting it when it was very cold out there. If it starts have problem stripping a round into chamber(short stroking), most likely it is a gas issue.

Shoot some real 5.56, see if it locks back. It could be that you are shooting very wimpy 223, and the gas port is at the lower end of the dimension for 5.56.

But if it's under gassed wouldn't it not lock back even when I hold the bolt catch down?

I can't afford 5.56! Lol I'm shooting Winchester white box .223 I'd like to make it work with this ammo as it's mostly what we get around here...

Will marstars warranty cover this.

It's not a warranty issue.

I would happily troubleshoot his AR and solve the problems, but by his previous posts in reply, he seems to know more about AR's than I do. So for now, he can ... £ NaCl.

Dude, I apologized for that post...

I will be the first to admit if I'm being an ass and I was a bit of an ass there.

Anyway, I'm not too proud to ask for help when needed so here I am asking

wherermykeys, has it ever held the bolt open after the last shot? The reason I ask is that I have a low round count through mine and no issues with any function of the rifle.

If it never held open, I would suggest it is a warranty issue. If it stopped holding open, perhaps a worn part, or mis adjusted part is the culprit.

I am only using the 5/30 mags that came with the rifle.

You came into the thread an called norc owners paying test rats, offered no solution other than the Chinese can't make AR's and magazines and YOU'RE the one who's feelings are hurt?

Now that you ask, it actually held open the first time I took it to the range. Put about 100 rounds through it no problem. Second time is when it started acting up...would hold open with only one of the Norinco mags so I figured they were junk. Bought a couple Pmags and now it won't hold open with ANY mag including my friend's 20 and 30 round metal mags...

Everything else works perfect and other than the bolt not holding open, no other malfunctions in about 600 rounds.

I guess I should say, I've tried shooting it dirty, clean, wet and dry...same thing happens...

Not quite, but fair enough.
