Norinco M4 range report

I've had maybe 4 Mini-14's now in .223 Rem. The BEST of them did 3 MOA with handloads. Worse with factory. The worst AR I've ever owned did 2 MOA.

So no, it's not hearsay. It's from personal experience. Mini-14 = POS.

No offense to the original poster, but I'm thinking with another shooter behind the trigger or after he has more experience with the Norinco, those groups should improve.

What make scope is that? It might be the weak link here... especially if it's an NCStar or similar scope.

Maybe when it comes to shooting the Mini14, you just suck.;)

I don't understand why guys are slagging his groups that is pretty standard for an AR at 100m. Unless you have a souped up - freefloating, two stage trigger, etc. rifle most AR's group in the 2-3" range. I had a nice match grade varminter and it had a difficult time grouping under an 1.5" at 100m consistently and that was with only 5 shot groups.

Don't want to hijack here, but do you mean "most users", or "most users on the internet"?

There is a difference. Big difference.

Be pretty tough to survey "most users" anyways, as that number is in the tens of thousands.

Also remember people will complain before they'll praise, so once again anecdotal evidence is not an indicator of anything.

Well I had an Mini14 years ago, before I'd heard of the internet and I didn't know anyone else who'd had one and it was horribly inaccurate, like +8 moa on a good day kind of inaccurate.

So I started with a completely unbiased opinion and ended up concluding it was an inaccurate POS. Later I heard many people tell this same story.

Where there's smoke there's usually fire. However this is the internet so I may be full of it. ;)

10 rounds groups from a 14 or so inch barrel... fresh from the box AR, no real opportunity to develop a pet load specifically for the gun.. I'd say it's decent enough. I'm gonna look real close at one of these if my tax return is big enough.

I, for one, was not slagging his groups. I agree these are normal, and are similar to what I get from my A1 and 604 style uppers. I am still unsure though how anyone could look at them and conclude the rifle is MOA capable, which is very good accuracy.

IMHO, most rack grade ARs should group well into, or under 3" at 100m with decent ammo. I think the dirty bird or Winchester white box stuff should do this with little issue, and I think we are seeing this in these groups.

I'm quite happy with the Norinco barrel on my M14 clone - I can't see these as any worse, and in fact, should shoot much better than the M-305s.

No offence to 'hid' the poster, but I wouldn't read too much into his test. (by the way, thank-you for posting them up for all of the armchair critics, me included, to pass judgement;))
From what I see in the groups, especially the lower left, I'm betting the mechanical accuracy is a bit better than his shooting - at least on the day of the test.

Just saw a Norinco M4 at Pullens in Victoria today. I was impressed. I had to use all my will power not to pull out the credit card and buy it right on the spot.

The finish is MUCH better than the picture posted on Lever's web site.

Took a look inside - it looked decent - minor tool marks and such - but I did note that the carrier key was staked (a good thing).

I was struck by how light it is. Much lighter than my T97.

I'd like to have one. Get em while they last guys - they are selling quick.

How much was Pullens asking for theirs?

Looks like that scope would be a Bushnell elite 4200 6-24x50mm Tactical , dont think it would be the weak link
