Norinco M4 recoil spring?

Joka,thanks...I am missing that little pin but wondering what that red thing is. hehe
Also wondering how it could have gotten lost,it's just a month old and I only had it out twice. Thanks to everyone who replied as well.

It's possible it was never installed - it IS made in China ;)

Is the stock castle nut on tight? Could the stock have backed off a turn or two?

FWIW, Brownells sells the part you need. It's part no. 231-000-107

not likely as they employ a 500lb gorilla to do all the tightening in there shop;) you pretty much have to cut stuff off instead of loosening anything. Who knows maybe it was between his shifts.

It's not something I even knew to look for when I bought it,nor after I used it.Thanks for the part number Claven2.
Flux,I may have bought the one made either on a Friday or a Monday..we all know how those days are as far as "production" goes haha.

The red thing is an aftermarket buffer that fits between the upper and lower.
Takes the wobble out when the two are mated. Would not come with your rifle.... it is an option add on you can do for a couple bucks if needed.... but for this instance I would not worry about it.... your not missing it.

Hey there Winchester, i ran into this issue when i replaced my norinco stock with my rock river arms stock. Now since this rifle was like this when you got it, it's hard to envision what it's supposed to look like. Call wolverine supplies and tell them you are mising your buffer spring retaining pin and spring, and they will get you a new one. To fix your issue once you get these parts... your going to have either back off the stock tube, or put it forward.. either way it's going to have to be out of the way so you can insert the spring then the retaining pin... then you screw the tube up until it holds the pin down, but does not cover it completely. I'm going to do a quick video to show you what i'm talking about...and to make sure you do it right.

Would this be the spring?

Skinnadoor, thank you very much for making that vid.I only just noticed that there was something wrong,I wasn't sure what, that's why I posted for the help..after everyones help, including yours..we figured out that it was that pin missing. The wife found the spring pictured here on the floor,no luck in locating the pin though.

No, it will work without the pin, provided you get the buffer properly lined up with the bolt carrier when you close the action. For obvious reasons though, you will want to replace the missing parts.
