So I bought a Norinco 10.5" and have had nothing but trouble.

It will not feed properly with the stock bcg, the casing just falls into the reciever and doesnt eject.

I put a buddies bcg in my gun and it works fine, and mine works fine in his.

That is issue 1

Now the kicker, with my buddies bcg in my gun, it has become stuck in the extended position and will not seat to allow me seperation of the upper and lower to inspect the bcg for what i think will be blown rings.

Any help would be apreciated

Re: The Kicker, the first time cleaning my new norc I forgot to put the buffer spring back in and when I pulled the bolt back it got stuck in the open position.

Sorry, that's all I got for ya.

1) You can pull back really hard on the CH (yes this will work)

2) You can use something like a leatherman MUT or screw driver to pull the BCG back...

Remove the buffer tube! That might be your only option at this point. Unless you take a rubber mallet to the forward assist. :)

Seriously?

There shouldn't be any troubles separating the upper from the lower with the BCG in that position.

Ar bolt, stuck open by .22lr brass to simulate OP's problem.

Pushing out both sets of pins allows the upper to slide ~1/4" forward.

This gives you enough clearance around the BCG to allow you to move the front part of the upper up and then forward.

This now allows you to lift the upper off of the lower, giving you full access to the internals without removing the buffer tube or pounding on your rifle with a rubber mallet. Also, it doesn't matter if the hammer is cocked or not. Works the same either way. You shouldn't have to force it too, as it should come apart relatively easily.

1) your missing your extractor booster, thats why your not extracting. Questar has the Spikes extractor booster in stock for less than $10. It will cure your problems.

2) if you can't separate your upper from your lower, then you most likely pulled the charging handle back so the bolt is in between the upper and the buffer tube acting as a block. Turn the gun upside down and lap the buffer tube until the bolt face slides forward enough that you can try and pull it farther with your fingers.

I have done this before, its no big deal... just embarrassing :D

Thanks for all the help,

I took it to the place of purchase due to the extraction problem, on a new gun and it was determined that the Norinco bolt was out of spec and not fully caming back to allow proper extraction. I have a new heavier Auto bolt in and it is extracting properly finally.

As for the bcg not allowing break down, it was catching the buffer tube. I cleaned out some FOD and smacked on the fwd assist and it closed enough to break down and took out the other bcg.

Now i just need to chew through my case of ammo

Again thanks, from a long time reader, newb poster

Great post! Informative.

Okay okay, your way would have worked too. :) My 'bang on the FA' comment was firmly tongue in cheek - however it did seem to work (sans rubber mallet...haha). ;)

To be honest - I never thought about removing both pins first...

I had my 10.5 out this weekend and only got 15 rounds down range before it started short stroking. It won't even extract with one round with no mag inserted. Is the power extractor the solution or do I need a heavier buffer too? Or is a new bcg the best option. Any Advice appreciated.

I had all sorts of trouble with my 10.5", bought a new BCG from Questar and now it works like a dream.....

Im no expert but my new 10.5, after being inspected by a gunsmith determined the buffer was to long, i think it was out 1/16" and the bolt in the bcg was also out of spec no allowing the spent casings to be kicked out, a new bcg fixed my problem
