Norinco M4 - upper/lower kinda wobbly?

What Reaper just said.... The AccuWedge is / was great when they first came out, real neat, but later on , a PITA to disassemble on the firing mound when you needed to pull things apart under match stress (like a broken firing pin at CFSAC/NSCC). :eek:

BTW, that was me watching another fellow civvie with a space gun'ed AR try to get to that bolt carrier during Match #1 at CFSAC/NSCC being shot concurrently. I tried this later on, found my upper and lower were too tight to pull apart in a hurry, so like Greentips, took a razor blade and shaved down the 'ledge' on the AccuWedge. :rolleyes: Did it help my scores at NSCC ?

Nah, but I will guarantee that using a gym membership and doing reps on your legs, arms, core, back, and abs WILL help you shoot tighter groups at 200m, 300m and 500m. And then the CQB matches, yada yada yada.

I don't care, it's funny that you seem to have a need to comment on almost every ATR related post, hence the cheerleader comment. I'll buy Canadian when a proven quality product arrives that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg.
 
how do you expect canadian producers to compete with the US market, you yourself put it Eloquently in the other thread... there is no physical way for a canadian manufacturer to compete with the US price wise, economy of scale dictates that just by itself... not to mention the ITAR restrictions and the US DoD.

is an arm and a leg worth it to promote a canadian maker... I think so ;) ;)

you know I would really be a dlask fan, but I have never recieved good customer service from him..... frankly ZERO customer service would be more appropriate.

Same here, did it for my Armalite. It didn't wobble a lot, but it bothered me. I had to chop off a lot of the accuwedge, but the thin remaining section did the job. (I also have a Stag and a RRA, no wobble issues at all. Specially the RRA, man it's tight!!)

J/K, I shouldn't joke about that! Knock on wood and hope for a speedy recovery for you here!

Anyway am I gathering (AR noob) that the play the accuwedge removes is not play that will negatively affect the function of the rifle?

Put another way, would you, Hungry or Reaper, use it on a bench rest AR (if you wanted such a thing) but not a battle rig, or would you not even bother on a bench rest AR?

I am just curious, I have very little experience with ARs.
 
I use my AR for extra training for my job,I run them hard and subject them to what some would consider abuse, so no I wouldn't ever consider buying or building a purpose built bench rest AR,although there are many capable ones out there.
 
It is not needed but it is no harm either, provided you custom fit the accuwedge, ie, cut the shelf down. THe original height is way too high - and I suspect the inventor actually expect people to cut it down. If you need one badly, your upper is probably a bit off already.

Think about the accu-wedge in the same way as a recoil buffer in a 1911 pistol.

The gun works with it or without it.

It's how it works for you that is the issue.

Personally, it does not do much for my Colt.

The wedge tightens up the upper and lower contact, reducing sight twitch in the upper is my understanding. It does nothing for function.
