Having no black rifles since I sold all my black prohibs years ago, I am now wanting an AR. I have read many threads on the norc M4 and still undecided. I am also toying with the idea to buy a spikes lower and go from there.

Is the norc upper as good as anything out there? bolt, barrel, but finish?

I know most lowers are all the same except finish wise but is the LPK in the norc inferior to say a RRA LPK?

Buffer/tube as good as any other?

I guess you can see where this is going, Do I buy a norc swap out trigger and few parts or just look elsewhere. I`m sure somone has both and could give there opinion. I haven`t seen a norc M4 in person so all I am going on pictures and CGN reviews. thanks

So far no one has reported any major issues with the Norinco products, it's a great product for it's price. since it is compatible with the rest of them, upgrade it as you go, when you grow out of it, you can swap out the parts and get another platform.

I have one and have put about 500 rounds through it runs like a clock no malfunctions and it almost looks as good as the colt i had.

I have different kinds of AR.s I have the norc complete, I have a stag complete, I also have a franken built off of a stag.

IMHO, the norc is not inferior for what we are restricted to use it for. you could change out the LPK with something say DPMS, or a two stage nm. But compare spec to spec, It is a pretty std m4-profiled rifle. For service rifle, I'd use it. It's not going to win you any beauty contests, and I hope looks aren't just all you are concerned about.

You can buy a Spikes lower for $199 or if you are more economically driven an Aero Precision lower for $159 at Kodiak Outpost. DPMS LPK can be had for <$100. To me a norc with a trigger swap is still a norc.......not that there is anything wrong with a norc. A guy should be able to buy a brand name complete upper for $800 +/-. Used starting at $800 and going down (not up). Not an upper with upgrades, just a basic upper with standard handguards, bcg, etc.

They are super ugly both inside and outside, but undeniably they do work.

I just stick my norinco upper into a plastic laundry bucket with other stuff, and lock the door. hahah.

I'm awaiting my "christmas" present to myself of a Norinco CQ556. It was the only one in my allowance range. (Mortgage, 2 kids, wife, pets, fuel, ammo, food...) Kids get mad if you forget to feed them at least once a day.
What is this about the mags being 'crap'? Misfeeds, no feeds...ect? Where can I get a decent mag at an affordable price? Any help would be appreciated.
Looking forward to Xmas even more. Should be here just prior to the big day.
It's not that I HATE winter, I just wish there wasn't so much of it! Northern Alberta.
-34C for a high today. :(
