Norinco M4

Not sure why all the excitement. The CQ311 didn't exactly fly off the shelves...at least I don't think it did.

The biggest reason for that (and the reason I sold mine) was the A1 sights (lack of optic options) and the 1:12 twist.

With a 1/9 14.5" flattop, you'd have a much better chance at selling a boatload.

evry time i tried toget a 311 the were gone the day before
maybe when the m4s get here the 311s will flood the market and i can get one relly cheap ;)

The CQ311s didn't fly off the shelve for various reasons.

1. The US State Dept. wasn't restricting exports/imports at the time the CQ311s were being brought into Canada. So the options were greater for AR owners.

2. The CQ311 parts were mostly incompatible with other AR parts out there. That's one of the main reasons people buy ARs, so they can customize it to their ideal.

3. The CQ311 had a slow barrel twist rate (1:12) because it was designed for 55gr bullets (ala M16A1 design).

4. The CQ311 doesn't have a removable carry handle, and also uses the oldest and least expediant sight adjustment system.

Other than that, the CQ311 is a great firearm because it was cheap accurate and reliable. If these Norinco M4s have the same cheap accurate and reliable factors the CQ311 had, and also allow the customizable options via imperial threading, (just like with the Norinco M14s) once again Canadians are gonna be laughing while the US shooters pays more for their firearms! If these rifles are in the $400 ball park, I'll be buying two.

Will this be an actual M4 replica? I don't believe the Chinese ever had direct access to technical drawings or actual M4 carbines like they did with the M16A1 and M14...

Don't worry about the technical drawings - Chinese government sponsored corporate espionage is extremely silent, efficient, and untraceable - imagine the farthest thing from James Bond, say five or six Chinese nationals with numerous years in the US working for any of the hundreds of AR clone manufacturers. Email one single ZIP file, and our Chinese 'friends' at Norinco are good to go.

Don't buy ONE Norinco-Plinko M4 !

Buy TWO of them !

I need an M4 so that I can take pics of my svelte body in the mirror ! That'll learn those Airsofties!! :D

Anyone know what exactly this is a clone of? An American AR-15? A Colt M4? I don't want a CQ311 with a shorter barrel and sliding stock.

It sure is a good thing marstar is bringing them in aswell, knowing levers prices we'd be paying more for the nork than we would for a brand like stag.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a 2 stage trigger?

Two stage triggers are typically found on military and competition firearms. When the trigger is pulled to the rear there are 2 distinct stages, one is referred to as taking up the slack and the second actually fires the gun. The first stage is noticably lighter than the second which can be marginally to significantly heavier.

don't dis what ya don't know...

I've got a cq311, and frankly its a peach. Yes, the hardware was a bit ugly, ergo fixed that for me nicely. Forged upper (or so I've been told) , nice and accurate (I use rem 55 grain) and I paid less than half I would have for a Yank. Never a lick of trouble and other than the flash hider everything fits on it.(you do need an adapt for stock change- no biggie $35) If it was crap I'd say so, but I've talked to guys who spent twice as much and they can't say the same. I figure it adds up. Not crazy about giving my money to the chinese, but I'd have to stop buying ANYTHING if I were going down that path. Come to think about it, I don't want to give the Yanks my money either, anyone wanna make these in Canada?

WE WILL HAVE THE M-4s, not at the current high prices.... remember what we did to the M-14 pricing....

Stay tuned
John

This is excellent news, especially given the recent restrictions from the US.

However, I do hope that it is made to the imperial pattern and not some bizarre metric/imperial hybrid like the M305 and 311. I suppose if the market is big enough they'll build to suit, so hopefully they'll be fully compatible with US parts.
