Norinco M4

My son who is 14 got 1" groups with my CQ at 50 yards with iron sights and that was his first time shooting it. The only jam I had was because of my pinned magazine.

I'm saying many on this site are more concerned with looks and posing than function and skills. I'm not directing this towards you or anyone in particular. Norinco has a sketchy record at best as far as craftsmanship, fit/finish, and reliability goes.

I will reluctantly agree on this point.

Both the M4 or the 97a are of great interest to me, more out of curiosity then anything, but I have realistic (low) expectations for them. A genuine colt M4 is not renown for it's accuracy, so a clone that has been stamped out by Norinco can be no more then average at best.

We know this, yet we still want them.

A firearm like this appeals to a casual collector, or to people who enjoy "fun" guns. The M4 is the one firearm you can load up with tacticool accessories and not feel guilty about it. I would not be caught dead with a vertical fore grip on a normal AR-15 or any other rifle, but somehow it seems appropriate on the M4.

The M4 has been described as "A ###y black barbie doll for men".

One things folks have to realize is Norinco does not make guns. They simply sell the products of various factories. The quality varies at each factory. The M4 factory is a military factory using cold hammer forged barrels.

Kind of like the "LG of firearms"?

LG electronics is just a brand name created for about 75 factories (including zenith and philips). Some of their products are great value for the dollar (like their cel phones). Others will light on fire if you look at the wrong.

All but one plant in China, our shotgun plant, do not have permits from the Chinese gov to export firearms. They must use one of the 5 export companies to market and sell their products abroad. This is very common in the combloc. Just look at Jugoimport, Rosoboronexport, Tasko, Romarm, etc, etc.

Then why waste the time coming in this thread.

I find it entertaining reading all the mouth frothing excitement for yet another mediocre product offered by Norinco. I'd also like to point out that many others on the forum are not looking forward to the inevitable string of complaint threads as to why their Norinco M4 won't work and/or accept USGI parts. I have to wonder, will the Norinco M4 threads be kept in the red rifles forum, or will this allow the whining and complaining to spill back into the black rifles forum?

Keep your intended use and expectations in mind when purchasing a firearm. Mr trout nailed it on the head.

The "mouth frothing" you speak of, why is it wrong for people to get excited about a new product? To get excited about something that could very well be well priced? Or a rifle that would be perfectly fine for a starter?

Alright then.

and the fact that China is a douchebag nation who could care less about the rights of their people, the environment or the sovereignty of other nations and their waters. I'm not overly inclined to purchase one of their knock off products.
I'm getting tired of reading thread after thread about this rifle/pistol/shotgun isn't working, or why accessory X won't fit firearm

Ok fair enough that you have some opinions! But I was only responding to a thread that said the cq was ugly.
I have not read to many threads that complain about things not fitting on the cq. You can put pretty much anything that goes into a north american ar on one with little modification if thats what you want.
Now as for your opinion on China.
I am getting tired of reading posts where people smash China for all of thier flaws and knock off guns.
But those same people are willing to sing the praises of America. Its not ok to buy a gun from China but it is from america , a country that has just as much of a history of violating peoples rights and a country that goes into other countries secretly and sets up thier puppet governments. They go into other countries under the guise of freedom and saving the people. They lie cheat and steal as well , so why is it so much better to support the arms indusrty in a county that willl not even sell us a gun with a retractable stock . flash hider , or a muzzle break. At least when the Chinese go to take over a country they go in as the Chinese no bones about it and take over! The Americans always have to make some lie about it.
At least the Chinese will sell us whatever our government will let in.
How many american companies have made thier own version of the AR , are all of thier versions that good? Why can the Chinese not make one too ?
I thank China for making a gun that I can buy at a great price and I can have a lot of fun with. Thank you China for helping me get into the world of the Black Rifle because I like so many here do not have the money to purchase a superior american product.
I am more scared of the Americans comming up for our water than I am the Chinese!

+1
I probably won't buy a Norinco M4, because I have no use for a .223, but I agree with what you said. The rampant american ass kissing on this board gets to me too.

The M4 factory is a military factory using cold hammer forged barrels.
There are actualy 2 factories producing the M4 clone,
And their products are very similar, but with different touches.

And there is a third one kicking in as we speak,
having only some very nice protos at this moment, like
an AR10 clone, a Chinese version of piston op-ed AR15,
and some copies of newer western guns,
but it will be years before they hit the market in numbers, if ever.

Cost is a factor, but so is timeline of when they are available.

If I buy one of the Canam 97a rifles, the M4 would then go on the backburner for a few more months (another 5.56 to add to the pile). For me I don't care about the price, more about the timing.

The fact that 3/4 of all our trade is with the US. The fact that the US was an ally in both world wars. The fact that what America does to help itself usually helps us as well. I'm well aware of the US track record with regards to their foreign policies. Logic would tell you that supporting those who can and do support you is a good thing. I could care less what nation the US destroys or controls. As long as my nation stands to benefit in the long run I support invading/destroying/meddling/controlling any nation.

The disguise of "humanitarian aid" or "increased human rights" is used by many nations not just the US to cultivate support for their agenda. Some nations try harder than others to cast a positive light on their actions.

Aside from that. US built AR's are far and away a better product. They(US) invented it, and have been producing it longer than anyone else. That's not to say the Norinco copy couldn't or wouldn't work. I'm sure many will run fine. I'm also confident that a significant portion will have issues, as most of the Norinco lineup has experienced. As far as the cost goes. I could care less what anyone spends on their firearms. I don't hit the range to measure my c*ck against the other posers who mill around talking sh*t and never really shoot. If the reliability and fit/finish are present. I'd like to pay as little as possible for my firearms. Unfortunately, a lot of what you get is directly related to what you pay.

Again, I'm just putting out the message that no one wants to hear about how your rifle doesn't work or why it won't accept parts down the road. These stories are common for Norinco products. The solution is always the same, even though few heed the advice.

As for looks. The Norinco looks identical to US made rifles. How anyone came to the conclusion they're different is beyond me.

If the U.S. would stop considering anything Non-American as a threat and recognize that WE also are their best allies and that they have an interest to help their neighbours with the right to pocess arms. If they would sell their rifles with the usual features that they have over there at an equivalent price. Then i would consider buying a U.S. AR. In my opinion, THEY forced us to look somewhere else. There is plenty of people in the world with better producs that want to have our money. I think it is called Capitalism.

Canadian AR pricing made Norincos popular. We all know the US price for ARs, then to see it get jacked up, people went for something cheaper. CQs were $500 for a long time. So far the US models are better in fit and finish, but with export restrictions on certain parts, people will buy elsewhere.

You can blame the U.S. State Department for any chinese M4 sales in Canada and the rest of the world.

Quoted for truth.

So many nice AR platformed rifles are missing from the Canadian market because the State Department insists on cockblocking us.

LR-300- A fantastic and origial AR with a unique bolt? No.

LWRC M6A2 - A Short stroke piston and outstanding quality? No.

Apparently a folding stock and a bayonet lug makes an AR too dangerous to export...
