Norinco M4

I was at the Fort McMurray Gun show this afternoon and they had the Norinco M4 and the Imperial Defense M4 there. I actually thought the finish excluding the carry handle on the Norinco to be superior but in overall quality after taking a good look over each they are nothing to get excited about. I will stick with the American Manufacturers.

My thoughts pretty much too. The Norinco looks the part but I wouldn't buy one because I didn't like the looks of the bolt carrier. Mick's guns don't look that special but the bolt carrier looked okay to me.

Buy both, take the bolt and barrel off the IDS rifle and put it on the Norinco. :D

Anybody figure out why there's UFOs on the manual?

There's another one on the back too.

Does this mean that I should use this as an Alien SHTF gun?:p

Yea I got a chuckle out of the "motherships" as well, perhaps they inadvertently displayed the latest secert weapon of the PLA?

I shot 80rds through mine today, only hicupp was with my LAR mag follower jamming other than that it worked great, mind you I smothered it in oil and grease, enough that I got splatter on my safety glasses. Decently accurate, can't compare it to any other AR as I never owned or used one extensivly before, well at least since 1984.

What was it about the bolt that you didn't like? I'm not an AR expert by any means, but it just looked like a parked FA bolt/carrier to me (the retainer pin opening is a bit odd but no biggie). I'm wondering if I missed something.

I put 100 rounds through mine yesterday zero malfunctions the only difference i found between the norinco and the colt i had 30 years ago was the cosmetics.I found the small castings were a little rough the finish on mine was acceptable oiled it up and it looked fine,I was trying to set up a scope can,t comment on accuracy but shot some close groups but not on target.Bottom line if you want pretty spend another grand.

hey you guy's I;m looking for info on accuracy with iron sights at 2 to 3 hundred yd's. I also want your opinions on the adjustments on iron sight's. I am using aCQ311 now and am thinking of buying one of these. Dose the peep actually have 2 size's of hole in it cause the 311 has 2 the same ?

the peep hole has a small hole and a battle sight (big hole)

Here is mine with a target at 50yards with the iron sights, keep in mind I haven't used an AR before and the target is just a blur to my eyes. Hits were a combo of standing and sitting at a bench without a riflerest.

Well that pin looked odd to me as well and the exhaust holes looked like they might even be hand-drilled. The bolt carrier is the hardest part to make and also the most critical. Making chrome-lined .22 barrels is not simple either, so if the bolt carrier looks crude, God knows what they're doing with those barrels.

It was on the P&D table next to a S&W M&P-15, and side-by-side the Norinco did not look anywhere near as good. Maybe they're fantastic rifles, but let someone else find out first.

The front sight should blur out when you are using optics. No need to put on a riser or any silly stuff to clear it.

Nope the front sight mount completly blocks a red dot.As for windage, it was a bit stiff and I can't read any markings without glasses, I think I had to adjust mine to the right about 3 clicks.
