Norinco mount options?

My eyes are getting too old for open sights, but a red dot sight should help big time.
I have a pair of Norinco's - NZ85 and 1911 - anyone have experience with mounting plates that replace the rear sight?

Like anything else not designed for an RDS, you'll be stuck using either the base that replaces the rear sight or sending the slide to get milled.

If you're going with the rear sight base, you may have to fit the new piece after removing the sight. A steel file and some effort can sort it out.
 
Understood - both handguns have a raised rib the length of the slide, so I wonder if anyone has gone that route and what base worked the best.
