Norinco "non-corrosive" 7.62x39 warning

I pulled out my sks yesterday and got a nasty surprise. The photos below are two weeks after shooting about 70 rounds of new production Norinco "non-corrosive" 7,62x39. Certainly looks corrosive to me!

This was not shot in humid conditions and is stored in a safe with moisture control along with other firearms showing no issues. Prior to this outting, the gun was spotless, completely stripped and immaculately cleaned by myself.

Where did you get it? Was it in a crate/can or boxed?

My Norinco Non-Corrosive from Canada Ammo is truly non-corrosive as some of my SKS and also my CZ527 and have sat a few weeks between shooting and cleaning at times. Nice to have a mix of corrosive and non corrosive depending on how much time you will have post shooting etc...

I'm thinking you got your ammo in 400rd packs from Cabela's?

its PRC surplus ammo repacked probably salvaged from crate overage (ie damaged boxes and open tins etc..)





That'll Buff Right Out...with some steel wool and determination. Personally I'd spray it with G96 and Sell it on EE as a reminder to others for $135

I guess my thought of if you don't have time to clean it don't shoot it comes to mind. My boys first sks did that after 20 rnds he learned that lesson. Goes for all my guns

This was purchased as a full crate from a forum sponsor. The entire reason I purchased it for the premium over surplus is the non-corrosive shouldn't do this...its 70 rounds and two weeks in good storage conditions.

I have about 750 rounds of the Canada Ammo Norinco non corrosive through 2 SKS rifles, they don't look like that and haven't been cleaned. Where did you get this ammo from?

Was it copper washed cases or lacquered?

Sorry crate is the wrong word..box I should say. A full box, not crate, with 20rd boxes inside.

The gun was stripped and cleaned twice over prior to an OCD level.

I have shot about 3000 rounds of this stuff through my beater Sks without cleaning it and aside from being dirty it looks fine and no rust

Also, I'm not fingering CanadaAmmo but rather questioning Norinco's claim of non-corrosive.
