I have been shooting my SKS-15 with Norinco Non-Corrosive 7.62x39 (white box, headstamp indicates 2017 manufacture date). Mostly because this gun is a bit of a pain to strip down, and I don't want to have to clean it every time I shoot it. However, after 3 outings, my fourth outing the first round jammed in the chamber. Bolt wont open.

I got it home and stripped it down. It took quite a bit of force to get the bolt open, and it was just the empty cartrage jammed in the chamber. There seems to be a lot of copper fouling in the chamber, I guess from the copper washed casings. Anyway, it's going to get a good scrub down, cleaning and oil.

And I can confirm that there is no signs of corrosiveness from this ammo. I know many people are skeptical of this Norinco ammo, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Since this is a sarcastic / troll comment and I'm already tagged in this thread:

spoons that have to be cleaned after every time I eat oatmeal don't deserve to be.

Do you change your oil every time you go for a drive?

Do you change your oil every time you go for a drive? Furnace air filter every night?

I bet you give yourself an enema every time you poop too. Personally I perfer to just eat a bit more fiber but hey, if you've got the compulsion to always be at your very cleanest you do you.

People who clean their guns every time they shoot typically don't shoot very much. Take a survey at an action shooting match and see how many do.

If you shoot a significant amount one point you'll realize sometimes you're shooting 500+ rounds in a weekend without cleaning, then doing it again the next week since you didn't get around to it.
Then you've got autists on the internet who go shoot half a box at the range and do a full tear down, and when you stop to think about that things just don't add up.

Well that escalated fast!

Anyway, I cleaned the rifle today. It was WAY less dirty than is typical from shooting the older 1970's corrosive ammo. I'm actually surprised I even had a malfunction. But that casing was jammed in the chamber really good. It took quite a bit of force to get it out. I used plenty of solvent when cleaning, so hopefully that took care of whatever was the issue. We will see how it performs next trip out.

Ive always cleaned my guns after every outing. Firearms are life saving equipment and there is no reason in my mind to not keep them cleaned an oiled. Takes maybe an hour when I get home. I shoot nearly every weekend

I have specific firearms I shoot often that I seldom clean, I have some firearms I clean without even having shot them since their last cleaning lol. I've also got firearms that I clean every 20 or so shots.

Thanks for the tip about norc 7.62x39!

Classy comment... And we wonder why firearms owners are misrepresented in the media.

I hear you. But it's not just that firearms owners that can come across as a33holes. This particular affliction affects so many people across so many cultures and countries. Sadly, it seems to be a human thing that we need to get a handle on.

Cheers,
Neil

Cleaning firearms after a range trip is only for shooting corrosive ammo, otherwise they get a reg wipe down with an oily rag and lubed where needed. When accuracy starts to decline they get a full clean.

Its an sks guys, if it wasn't for corrosive ammo he could shoot all year and still have it working 100%. Maybe a new Rustington you have to clean every time you touch it haha. If I had something rust I'd throw you guys a bone.

Also the media slanders us regardless. Stop trying to appease them. That's not something you do when you are being bullied that's called Stockholm syndrome.

the batch of white box norinco non corrosive that I am using currently is corrosive lol previous crate wasn't tho. I never trust what the box says

What is the headstamp on your corrosive "non-corrosive"? Anything made in the current millennium 'should' be non-corrosive.
