Finally, I got my NP-18 from Marstar (it take a whole month to get it). I'm a 9mm fans and this is my fourth one. Due to tight budget, I always look for a cheap but reliable 9mm for target plinking. When I first saw it a year ago in Marstar's web site, it caught my eye cause it looks so good, a PEG P9R copy, which has a name of browning copy. However, I search the web and find little comment on this gun. Some people just call it crap without firing it. So, I want to try it out by myself.
I know the package and the cosmetic of the gun is not good. I clean the gun well and bring it to the range. Double action? Terribly heavy! I think it take almost 20 lbs pull. Single action? Very acceptable. I think it's around 7 lbs. When you disassemble the gun, you'll be surprised by the solidly built parts including the chrome lined barrel.
The only thing that bother me is the sight. The groove of the rear sight is so narrow that a member in my gun club just can't focus on it!! For me, I'm OK with that.
I start out with my reload ammo and then the winclean 9mm. They all feed well. Another surprise is the recoil, it's so light and smooth, much better than my Glock 17 and Springfield XD 9. The gun stay where it is after it fired. Since the target in my shooting range are set in 25m, I found it hard to strike the target in the first 20 rounds. As I got used to the sight, I can put ten rounds within 15 inches. I'm so happy with this new toy. May change the sight later.
