Can someone give me the honest facts about the difference between a norinco knock off or the real Sig, other than the $800 difference.

Finish, accuracy, mechanics, reliability???

I've only seen the Sig, and loved it.

But what makes it worth $800 more than the Norcinco?

Thanks for the help

But what is the "actual" difference ofther than what is laser etched into the side of the barrel. As cool as "SIG 226" looks, I'm not sure it is worth $800 or $400.

Is there any difference other than being able to say that I have a "real" Sig.

I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time, just trying to get answers.

You get what you pay for. The real deal is vastly superior to the Norinco clone according to every parameter that you listed (finish, accuracy, mechanics, reliability). A real Sig will likely last over 100,000 rounds; you'd be lucky if the Chinese knock-off made it past the 5,000 mark.

Put the Sig in your left hand and the norinco into your right hand. They will feel different. Next, shoot the Sig afterwhich shoot the Norinco - again there will be differences. Finally, wait 10k rounds, then 20k rounds, and so on, and see which of the two holds up. For most people, most of the time, the Sig will come out on top (although I have heard stories of people shooting better with the Norinco hence my relunctance to dismiss the norinco outright). That said, it is rare that a Sig owner complains and wishes he bought the norinco instead.... while I have heard on many occassions people buying a norinco and soon thereafter, looking for the real deal.

Again, YMMV - there are alot of happy norinco owners out there and for the money, it is hard to argue if the gun holds up. But for the extra couple hundred, you might be buying yourself a gun for life ;-) :D

The norinco is a lot of gun for the money but a lot of people seam to start down the road to modification as soon as they have it in their mitts, hence the real cost goes up.
My Sig is still stock apart from some new grips and like groky said its something I always see in my collection.

The sig is gorgeous and a fantastic pistol.. but the Norinco is easily worth than the $400 (by the time you get it).

Finish and feel of the NP22 is far more than just acceptable. It's easily the best of every Norinco handgun I've handled.

Tough call, but if I had the scratch, I'd buy a Sig.. preferebly two-tone. :)

I had the NP-22 and really liked it, despite it having a problem. However it does not compare with a Sig 226. the Norinco grips are crap and you should change them for hogues.

I will likely buy a rebuilt Sig as soon as I have the money. But the NP-22 would be a decent pistol to start with.

I bought a NP22 to approximate the gun I use for work because I can't afford a real 226. Since getting it in late spring, I've put about 1000 rounds through it; so far no problems. The Norc grips suck though, so I swapped them out in a hurry for some Hogues I found on CGN. Big difference. DA trigger is a bit rough; SA is smooth. The sights are nothing to write home about but nothing that can't be adjusted. Overall fit, finish and performance have surprised a more than a few people, including a Norc-skeptic or two.

For the money, I'm very pleased. It's also working well for my intended purposes. Plus Marstar's guarantee helps me sleep at night in case I bought a dud. :!:

SIG 226 anytime over a Noninco. The refurbished SIG gun look like a good deal. If you look around on this web site and others, you will find P226 in the 800$ to 850$ range.

Never seen a bad SIG out of the box.. Norinco.. you have to look for the boxes than contain a good one

I don't know about the real Sig (never fired one), but new Hogue grips on my NP-22 makes it a great shooter. I actually like the SA trigger feel (maybe I'm just weird.)

+1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the current NP-22 not a clone of an earlier generation of Sig. And not a clone of the most current Sig P226.

I have fired both, and I found the Norinco had a nicer double action pull than my Brand New Sig P226 out of the box. I am not convinced that the Sig is a better deal anymore. The finish and fit maybe neater but the performance was the same with a better trigger pull.
