Yes, the grip area of the frame is wider. Google for "2011 images" and compare them. The 28 uses the wider double stack staggered cartridges in the magazine vs the single stack of rounds in the "single stack" model 29.

With all this foofooraw going on I'll bet Marstar sells out in only a day or two once they come in... :D

The NP29 is a single stack. The NP28 is a double stack... mags may be harder to source. At least my 2 NP29's always found a steady source of single stack 9mm magazines from : MecGar, Colt, Wilson, Springfield, etc.

Currently, like an fzckng idiot that I am, the NP29's were sold off and I'm back to the 1911 after a 3 year absence from this platform. This summer, I could no longer resist. I bought an STI Spartan 9mm 1911 single stack and have been super happy, that's the price of TWO  NP29's.

I imagine that when johnone at Marstar.ca ever gets them in... the NP29's are gonna sell like nuts. I might grab my THIRD :D NP29 just for project gun!

Cheers,
Barney

I have one as well.

It was my very first HG and still my favorite. 9mm is definitely cheaper to feed.

The only mod is a set of Hogue king wood grips.

Like the prior posters have mentioned, it is very accurate and eats any kind of ammo I feed it.

The only two issues I have are;
-The saftey on mine is fairly sharp and really wears/cuts my hand after a large amount of shooting.
- It seemed to stove pipe when fired by some of my female friends. This was due to them "limp wristing" it when they first tried shooting it. It requires a strong hold to cycle properly.

Overall I am very pleased with it.

I've been waiting for a NP-29 since I joined CGN!

They were supposed to be on a more recent order, but never made it on the boat, so I just kept on waiting. Patiently I might add, I didn't even start one thread voicing my displeasure that I couldn't get one - just kept a low profile, hoping that a thread like this never popped up, drawing more attention to the object of my desire.

I will be calling the day they become availible to make sure I get one, but probably two... and something tells me by the good words the NP-29 is receiving in this thread alone all I'm gonna get is a busy signal from Marstar! :D

Keep a watchfull eye on Badger as well as Marstar. Before Badger upgraded their website they were advertising that they exepected to receive some. Like the Commanders, you may find they show up all over the place.

I know your pain brother. I came across some other guns topic and one fellow member posted a used gun's link and my eyes pop out.

Bought my first one new, shot it a LOT. It is now used primarily with a Colt .22 conversion kit.
Second one was used. Blasted and parked it. IMHO looks a lot better this way. Also has been shot a lot.
Changed a few parts: MGW sights on, different grips, extended mag. release. Gunsite safety one #2. This safety has a low paddle, works better for me than the standard. Using Metalform magazines, including 10 rounders.
Must say though, I've been competing with my M&P9 Pro, and I can shoot better with it than the NP29s.

And Tiriaq CAN shoot! He made that NP29 kick some butts since all the other shooters brought higher priced boomsticks! :D

I'm hoping that Norinco NP29's inbound will be tweaked with the same treatment that the current crop of 1911A1's are... Sporter models with extended safeties, extended slide stops, skeletonized hammer, rubber grips, higher visibility sights, and front serrations. :)

The 1911's by Norinco are stepping up their game! ;) I could not resist so I bought one of the .45 ACP Sporter 1911's in a Two Tone!

Cheers,
Barney

Speaking of Norinco NP-29's.....

There was a very nice looking used Norc NP-29 [1911A1 single stack] 9mm up on the EE yesterday afternoon for $350 shipped!

'Course it didn't last long....

There's a new, happy NP-29 owner out there...

[And, no, it wasn't me.... :( ]

Yeah i snapped that up prety quick;):dancingbanana:

I've had mine for around 13 years, never had any problems with it other than one of my aftermarket mags failed this year.
My only regret is that I didn't buy it's twin brother that was sitting next to it in the display case the day I bought it.
I have done nothing to it other than to file off a few sharp edges, shoot it, and clean it.
Great pistol for the money.

I'm going to find a standard slide release and safety for it so it will fit my HERA carbine kit.
