I had been toying with the idea of adding a RMR to one of my pistols, but I was having a hard time locating a mount for the Norc NP-40 (CZ clone). I also wanted one that would profile the barrel rather than just be flat across the top. The 2 options I thought might work were the Beretta 92 and the 1911. Luckily I came across an Omega Mfg mount on eBay for $24 so I figured I would give it a try. It attaches with a sight dove-tail that required about 1 minute of work to size it. As it turns out, it actually sits very well on the rail with 4 points the full length of the mount. I could fill it in with epoxy, but it is rock solid on the rail. The only thing I may do is drill and tap a front anchor point.
I did need to add a make-shift shim (0.03" or 1.5 degree tilt) on the rear because the sight picture (elevation) was about 2" too high (shooting low) and I had no adjustment remaining. There are Derlin shims available, but all require an order out of the USA. You can see the aluminum in the picture at the rear of the sight.
This pistol shoots very well with iron sights, but the beauty of the new RMR sight is you can focus on the target, and it is great for old eyes as you can see the hits on the target in real time.
