Norinco NP-58: A Lot of Gun for a Small Price!

I had to re-read the OP after reading mention of it being an advertisment in later posts . . . ??? I fail to see how that was taken that way. I found it to be a great and informative review . . . and thanks for that NS! Considering a Norinco purchase - love to hear a review on the NZ-85B someday:)

I was able to purchase an additional 3 mags per NP-58 through MARSTAR. check with them.

Can always use more opinions and personal experiences from someone who knows/handles a variety of firearms. I'm a learning sponge, I'm sure I'll be reading them.

No need to apologies brother, if any person jump on your post and they are just pain silly. A review help many new shooter save up some money for their first handgun is what we are seeking.

I eagerly await more of your gun tests/reviews. I am particularly interested in the longevity and reliability of your firearms, since you use them in your school.
 
The original report was well written and came across just as you intended. Please don't mind the internet ninjas that seem to want to see bogey men under every stone or post.

It's great to hear from someone like you that has had a chance to base your findings from more than one gun used by a variety of people over a longer time period. Especially since with any "fleet" of guns each individual gun will be subjected to a lot of hard use by folks that won't go that extra little bit since it's not their gun. I tend to put similar weight on reports about guns, or any other product, that sees similar use in a rental sort of setup. Generally if a product does well in that sort of setting then for a personal purchase the odds of getting excellent quality is all but assured.

For myself I would more than welcome any further posts about the guns used in your training arsenal be they hand guns, long guns or shotguns of any variety.

Can a Sig made magazine, fit into the np-58?

Also grips, compatible I assume....mainly it the mag Compatibility I'm unsure about.

I am always interested in what the Norinco knock-offs are doing.

I have had very good experiences with their 1911s.

Something I always find funny is that a lot of Canadian gun owners disparage Norinco stuff as "cheap chinese junk" while my American friends - most of whom have gun collections and experience that would make 99% of CGNers puke with envy - jump on Norincos when they can get them.

They consider Norinco 1911s, M14s, and SKSs to be great guns - reliable and solid, just gritty and a bit ugly. I don't know if any of the other copies/models made it down there so I don't hear much about them. But in particular the nork 1911s are highly regarded. That's funny because I occasionally get flak for running Norinco 1911s at Canadian ranges...usually from people who don't know much about them, of course.

I don't know anything about their Sig clones. But I'm interested to hear how these hold up after 1000 rounds, 5000 rounds, 10,000 rounds and so on.

Actually, the "cheap Scotsman" myth goes back to the seventeenth century when English troops occupied much of the country. They simply could not understand that the Scottish reluctance to spend came not from frugality but from absolute poverty: the English had stolen every penny the Scots had.
