Norinco NP22 1 for plinking

Edited to add background: ancient Glock 1 (or 2 I'm told) started misfiring, had it "professionally" cleaned at the local gun club, now misfires somewhat less. Own it because I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with it even after installing a rifled barrel (yeah--please don't go there) and figure it will eventually teach me how to point a sidearm. Eventually.

About to start working on the upper myself but looking for something cheap but good to use in the meantime. Understand the NP22 Norinco is a clone of the Sig NP226 and accepts a number of NP226 upgrades, unlike the NP34 sig clone.

Also, don't like fact that the barrel protrudes from the Norinco NP34 just like it protrudes from my Glock, constant reminder of Canadian barrel length requirement

I don't understand what you are referring to about glock
Worn out piece of crap?
Have some else shoot it.
You maybe aren't interested, but trying to learn to shoot handguns, 9mm semi is a poor choice.
A decent 22 pistol will be easier to muster.

A good 9mm will shoot straight, but not the ones you are talking about, I will go put my fire suit on Now.

I have had one for several years good shooter , sanded the rough edges and has never had a functional issue.
Fun plinker but of course much more accurate options out there ,but at my level it is accurate enough.
But i also like 1911's and my Glock 17 gen 4 so try them out and see for yourself or just get them all like i did eventually lol

Hard to understand what what you mean when you say "misfire". Failure to feed? Failure to extract? Primer doesn't ignite... etc. Also confused about you installing a "rifled" barrel, what was in it originally?

It sounds like you are a novice pistol shooter, nothing wrong with that, we all started out the same. But could you be causing malfunctions with a poor/weak grip? On a couple occasions when I was a range officer I saw novice shooters struggling to shoot their first 9mm pistols and experiencing many malfunctions. On guy was convinced he had to send his new glock in for service, the other was blaming his factory ammunition. Both individuals had a really poor grip. I suggested they hold the pistol a lot higher on the grip and keep a firm grip on it and suddenly their pistols starting working just fine. I have no idea if that might be contributing to your issues experienced with your glock but its an easy fix if it is. As mentioned have someone more experienced try it out and see if they experience the same before you start tinkering with it.

As stated above, it could be simple issues causing problems. If you "limp-wrist" the gun, it doesnt have a solid support to #### itself during recoil as the impulse is absorbed into your arm rather than the recoil spring. This could cause failure to load/eject issues. Maybe the ammo you are using has a wrong bullet profile for your gun or the charge is too weak/strong for the weight of recoil spring installed. Trying new ammo bullet weights and shapes and different brands can help. Just saying that users can unknowingly be causing jams without realizing. The only time I shot a glock, I caused a bunch of jams because my grip made the slide rub my thumb, slowing it down. The owner pointed it out to me that my grip was wrong and I shot problem free after that.

I had an NP 40, same gun, but in .40 S & W. Very accurate, but very picky on bullet type when it came to feeding, heavy trigger, and long reset. I replaced it with an all steel Jericho in .40. Much better gun.

I do have an NZ85B (CZ clone in 9mm), it is excellent all round; accurate, reliable feeding of all types of ammo; and if you want to tweak it, after market components for CZ and Tanfoglio fit. I love shooting it.

I don't like the feel of a good glock.

I have a couple of guns I still like after a couple of decades of firing them--a new-to-me at the time 22 (Ruger Mark 2) and a 357 magnum (S&W 686)--no problems, so not so much learning how to shoot as learning why I can't aim that particular gun. I'd ditch the 9mm except still have a ton of components for it (Problem occurs with store bought as well as reload).

"Misfire" in this case means all of the above--no bang, no ejection and no feed (slide jams).

Haven't entirely ruled out a limp wrist--getting older after all--but haven't rejected out of battery either. Thought it might be light strikes until I finally looked closer--striker indent seriously off center.
