Norinco NP22 (Sig clone 226) any good

Current p226 mags requires slight modification. Never shot either but felt both and i came to the conclusion that the $800 difference is not worth it to buy the real p226 vs the clone. I suggest handling both if you can before buying.

I had to mill a couple thou off the bottom of the magwell to get the factory Sig mags to lock up on the wife's NP22. It was so close that the number stamp on the magwell was easily still visible even. The factory Norinco mag still works, and I figured a couple thou off the gun was better than ending up with magazines that were tweaked specifically for one gun. Runs like a top.

Great idea. Never thought of it that way. What tool did you use?

Had the latest version.....upgraded to a used sig....but I never regretted buying the np-22... Mine was well put together( I can hear someone sniggling) prety well finished, and ran flawlessly.....I was so impressed with it, I wanted the real deal......would own another......

It seems most people do a little bit of filing to the hole that the mag release catches on. Its just slightly off (too low I think?) on the SIG mags. But your idea isn't a bad one either, if you've got the tools to do it.

The only problems I have had with my Norinco NP 22 is the amount of ammo she uses...she is a glutton for punishment...different makes of ammo and not a problem....

Flawless reliability from mine.....and I recon average 3-4" groups at 10 yds.....bone stock, except for hogue wrap around finger groove grips......

Maybe it just needed a good cleaning. Switching out parts before you found the problem made it impossible to know what went wrong.

If you didn't find any broken or worn parts then what made it suddenly unreliable?
All I can say is my np22 is very reliable. I also know of sig owners that need to have their sigs repaired. Does that mean some of them have serious issues?

Where you buy the Norc from will warrant it.

No different than a real SIG or a Glock, don't fool yourself even high end guns can have issues......

Probably the best info I read before making the decision to buy an NP 22. I wanted to get back into shooting handgun at an inexpensive price, Clobbersauras wrote a pretty even handed set of posts.

After reading his posts and already having a DA shotgun and a M305 I knew quality control is pretty hit or miss but went with the Np 22 anyway.

I did switch out the recoil and hammer springs with Wolfe springs before shooting.

New Years day 250 rounds of reloads, surplus CND Army 9mm and a box of old Winchester blazer. Ate all of it up with no problems other than the Chinese set every rifle and pistol up to shoot to the left.

So basically consider your usage, if you want to shoot a lot and compete get the real thing. If like me you are kinda of the fence get the NP 22, you can try it out if you end up mostly leaving it in the safe you are only out 350.00.

then if you love it and want to compete or shoot all the time buy the real thing.
