norinco np22 (sig226 clone) for competition?

No issues with my NP22 EVER. It runs flawlessly. I little work on the DA but the SA is crisp. Only issue is the sights. They don't move without a lot of force and maybe heat. I have still not gotten mine to move (Haven't really tried either). It shoots Left for everyone using it. But I learned to adjust. I can handle my own in a competition and I get the best times in our local timed steal shoots. I would replace the grips too with wrap around hugo grips ($20). All the parts and springs I have used or my friends have replaced all fit from SIG so no worries there. I believe the NP22 is the best Norinco has ever came out with. Every firearm has issues so don't listen to the haters of Norinco ( Many don't actually have real experience with them or only had the misfortune of using there 1911's) . For example Everyone loves there CZs , But I know all my friends have parts fling off or braking. My uncle has both the Girsan and Rugar, both are nice as well and do not perform any better then my NP22 or worse. Except for the sights issue. I say if your just getting your feet wet go ahead and get one. If you find more time and passion for the sport in the future sell it and upgrade. Then you can look back and wonder how you managed to do so well with a china clone. lol.

well said bros, I have owned the NP22, will find the time to shoot it in coming month.

My wife has the M&P and loves it, I have shot it too and it is a smooth shooter. I have heard good things about the budget Glock clone SD9 VE also.

Wanstalls currently has them for $399

Flaherty's has the M&P9 Range kit fr $599 right now. Comes with a good holster and 3 mags with pouches. Seems to be a great competition setup to me.

Picked up my NP22 off the EE new never shot with Hogue Rubber Grips installed. Love it! works flawlessly and feels great in the hands! SUPER easy to take down and clean!

Used the NP34 (copy of a 229) for about a year of club level IDPA style competition. Ran over 1K rounds through it without an issue. VERY accurate with factory ammo. This year I've bought a used Sig 226R and while the trigger is noticeably better, it has made me more impressed with the Norinco than I was before.

The serations on the decocker and slide release on the Sig are much more rounded making them noticeably harder to manipulate than the NP34.

The grip screws seem to be VERY different between the Sig and the Norc. I noticed this while seeing if the Hogue grip from my NP43 would fit on the 226, (no it doesn't, slight difference underneath the beavertail area of the grip), and saw that I was missing a grip screw on the NP34.

If you don't normally buy into brand kool-aid, seriously try a Norinco NP22, or 34, stick some Hogue grips on it, (finger grooved if you have big hands, non grooved if they're medium), and tighten the grip screws well.

I bought Norc mags from Marstar and they all required some slight filing on the magazine catch slot to be retained properly in the pistol.
