Has anyone used the 1911 9mm Norc for competitions?

Any issues? Obviously you would need to get the 10 round mags (versus the 8 rounders they come with).

I'm looking to do some CQB shooting with the ARL and maybe IPSC one day.

Thanks for the notes.

I've used mine in one 3 gun. If you shoot it well, it runs as good as anything else. I've had a few people comment on how well I shot with my nice pistol. They were shocked that it was only $300. Lol

I have used one quite a bit. I like it because it is a very heavy gun. I shoot a mild load in it. It is easy to control in rapid fire.

I added fibre optic front sight, trigger job and the Hogue Palm Swell grips.

Mine ran great. I actually never had a single stoppage in over 2000 rounds. I did clean it regularly and kept it wet, cause most of my handguns run better if really oily. (as long as you keep them clean, oily is great. Let them accumulate dirt, and that's another story)
I cannot see why it would not be a decent pistol for light competition. Trigger job and better grips would be helpful for that I think.

It's a great base for a very fine custom pistol.....how far you go is up to you...have fun..

I've won a few medals with an NP29.... also had my butt handed to me by a few 23 year olds with 1911 .45 ACP Norinco pistols. It's about fast magazine changes and super good fundamentals. I've been humbled and proud to say it. Don't underestimate any competitor with a Norinco 1911 regardless of caliber. Those Norc pistols in 1911 format are a great value for any game you shoot!

Enjoy the addiction!

Gotta say I absolutely love my NP29 and Sport .45 like no other.

The 9mm only has about 1500 rounds through it where the .45 is getting some good mileage (Over 6000 rounds now) and I just said screw it on the finish and I leave it as exposed metal for a funky "Fallout" styled pistol.

Great guns, solid performers once you figure out what magazines work best for your pistol.

It sure ain't no Dan Wesson or Les Baer as far as fit and finish from the factory goes but it does the job either way.

Do you work on 1911s as much as you do the M14s?

Nice pair!! How is the hogue for smaller sweaty hands?

In my case, the Hogues make it easier to maintain a consistent and confidence inspiring grip. It is thicker all around but if you have the proper 1911 grip technique, you actually have space between your palm and a standard thickness 1911 grip. The Hogues just fill up the empty space a bit, and only stretches the front strap forward very slightly. So smaller hands like I have, are not disadvantaged.
