So, after 20 years out of handguns (raising family) i'm finally retired and just finished the rpal. Started looking at cheaper range plinkers in 9mm and doing all the research/reading/watching vids on the designs i like. Keep in mind i am looking at 9mm. So, i love the 1911's and the cz75 and the sig 226/228.

I can buy all three clones for the price of one new sig 226. (i live in Canada)

Now, for the folks that HAVE or have owned any of the norinco models i mentioned, can you post your thoughts and expierieces.

I am pretty handy with small gunsmithing and dont mind smoothing out, polishing, and general fiddling with firearms.

I have a Norinco NZ85B. Fit and finish is pretty good. Had an issue for warranty when I bought it.. after it was fixed it's wonderful.

Double action is lacking. Single action is pretty good.

i have the 1911a1 and enjoyed all the the smoothing out and upgrading springs rod etc and have a fine shooter today
as for a 9mm i would add the np22 great gun 226 copy just smoothed it out and its a lot of fun built like a tank

I think I've had 3 NP29s, 1 NP34 (P229 clone) and 3 NP22s (P226 clone). All were awesome, no complaints and worth every penny. Don't let the brand name snobs with more money than sense scare you away, if you're looking for cheap toys that go bang every time and leave you with money for ammo these can't be beat!

I own most Norinco models and most of the real deal guns they clone.

The norcs all got a trigger job. Most of the real deal also needed a trigger job.

Shooting one or the other is about the same.

I really like the 1911 and CZ clones.

Hey, great feedback so far guys...keep it coming. I have no problem doing trigger jobs and smoothing things out. The problems i have heard of seem to be mostly cured by either some polishing/trig jobs or adjusting the extractor. Also heard that they mostly like 124gr or more as the springs are kinda tight (could this be remedied by changing the slide spring?)

Also, how is the finish on the newer ones? I am torn between the black and the two tone on the cz frame.

Had my NP34 for 4 years now, it has never had any issues at all.

I did install an SRT trigger kit, and added Hogue grips, but it just goes bang everytime and has really smoothed out overall.

Everyone likes shooting it, but there just so many naysayers.

Had American, Itailian, German. and Chinese guns, at the end it really comes down to what do you need and what are you willing to spend?

Getting too old to look at the next lane and go wow, nice $2000.00 piece.

I really do not care at all, but hey if it makes you feel so much better than everyone else because you dropped 6 times as much then I did on my NP34, whatever works.

Anyways my NP34 is nicely balanced and is a tank, but I am old school when it comes to all metal handguns. :)

Enjoy it, shoot it, and if it does not work for you you have less than 400.00 into, you can always sell it for not a huge loss. I just shake my head when someone drops 2k and expects to get the same when they try to dump it.

have a np29 and a np22. about 1000 rnds thru each . Put a houge grip on the np22 , the plastic ones are not that good
no problem with either so far , both accurate and reliable

Norinco pistols are absolutely your best buy in a 1911. Take a look at one in person and compare it with one at two to three times the price.

Have a np34. Highly recommend it as it shoots reliably and is built like a tank. Calibre magazine has a write up to look at. http:// calibremag.ca/9mm-pistol-buyers-guide/

Unfortunately i don't have a norc dealer in kelowna....we don't even have a cabelas here (sniff sniff).....so i will be ordering online....just waiting for that dammed rpal in the mail....grr...hopefully it will be here before black friday...

I've ordered all 7 or 8 of mine online, mostly from CanadaAmmo, with no disappointments.

another vote for the 1911. a little polishing and it runs fine. not ###y looking like a Kimber but not 1500 bucks either.
ditch the mags though, they are crap. i got some e-landers from Chemist and they work great

I've owned a nz85b for about 5 years now. It's been great. Just a little work needed to the trigger and the trigger is now better than my sp-01 shadowline. Shoots very tight groups too.

Had a NP22, just put on houge grips and it was great. Had the two tone, I liked the finish. Sold it here on the EE.
Still have a norc 1911A1 & M4 CQA. Love em both, you would have a hard time convincing me I needed to spend more.

Go Canada ammo, their 1911's are well done, the np34 is a good weight, nice handling piece. spend the $500+ you save by not buying the brand name, instead buy the ammo you need to actually enjoy any firearm.

I have the CZ clone , in the two tone. Compares well with the CZ75 I had and gave to my brother-in -law ;(.
I did a little polishing, but the double action on my smith revolvers spoiled me --- however it does go bang when asked and hits the paper if I do my part

The grips and frame just fit my paws well.
