I have a Norinco NP 29 that if feasible I would like to change the sights on. Has anyone figured out sites that will actually fit these without having to get the slide machined?

Thanks

read this, same questions:

New NP29 front sight is dovetail (not tenon) and from all info I was able to find - there is no direct replacement aftermarket. It has to be machined to some degree with any brand's sights. I am saving for gunsmith at this point. still can't decide if I want Novak or adjustable Bomar type - still learning...
for now I painted stock sights with bright color paint as somebody recommended here - it's still sucks but i can hit most Alphas at 10-15m so not a show stopper.
Post here what you find out.

Thanks guys. It's definitely not my main gun choice when I go to the range so maybe I will just try to brighten up the current sights and leave it at that since it sounds like quite the ordeal to change them.

There are two types of Norc front sights.

The early ones used the stock Colt Series 70 tenon. This is a small tab that goes down into a small slot in the slide.

The later Norcs use a dovetail. The dovetail is narrower than other guns, so your gunsmith has to cut it a bit wider to fit whatever front sight you buy.

If your pistol uses the tenon, you can also take this opportunity to cut a dovetail.
