I'm looking at getting a pistol in the 7.62x25 caliber and I'd like to hear comparative opinions on these two pistols: Norinco NP762 and the Zastava M57.

Purpose: pure plinking fun and fire breathing fun. No competition of any sort.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

I don’t have an M57 but I do have a TT33 and an NP762. The grip on the M57 is longer than the TT33 because of the extra round but I imagine it would still be tiny for someone with large hands. The NP762 on the other hand has ridiculously huge rubber grips. The TT33 feels pretty snappy when shooting whereas the NP762 actually shoots pretty flat. The triggers are probably equally horrible, my NP762 has the heaviest trigger out of any of my handguns.

I would say get both. I got my TT33 for the history of it, and my NP762 because I love the calibre. Both are reasonably cheap enough that you could afford both.

I have shot both and i have smaller hands....m57 wins hands down for anyone with smaller hands....also makes a great range plinker...just remember to pick up an extra mag or 2. The grip on the norc is even larger than the p226 (np22) .

My vote is for M57.

We had reports on CGN about NP762 reliability issues.

From my experience, M57 has been very reliable, and seems like a right fit for what you are expecting of it.

If you need any additional info, feel free to PM me.

Cheers,
Dan

I've shot both the P762 and Tokarev TT-33 and thought the Norinco was much nicer to aim/shoot. It had no issues for the several hundred rounds I put through it. Mind you, that was Norinco red box ammo, not surplus.

If you have normal or large sized hands the Norinco grip is just fine, I preferred it by far to the usual NP22 size grip. Comparatively, the standard Tokarev grip is pretty crappy, probably the worst I've ever experienced. The M57 grips are the same flat plastic grips as the TT, just longer.

So I vote P762, which if you don't like, you can easily resell it later. It is the better gun by far, better sights and more accurate to boot.

I have a Zastava M57 and TT33 Tokarev in comparison they are much like the Glock 17 to the Glock 19 when compared in size (obviously not materials lol)

I prefer the Glock 17 but prefer the TT33 as the M57 seems to make my hand sore with the recoil and shape of the grip. Also my TT33 is more accurate with any ammo I have put in it the M57 only seems to like norinco with Czech ammo flying all over the place.
