Norinco NS522 Has opened my eyes!

HUmm haven't owned a MK2 before, but my NS522 once the sock fit issues were addressed shoots a bit better than both CZ452 Varmints i have owned ! I doubt you could find a more accurate .22 for under $1000, these rifles were made on Austrian Anschutz machinery remember .. like i said the stock fit issues need to be addressed ( couple hours work) because these actions were put in a stock not meant for them by the looks but meant for a thinner barrel sporting model .

that's correct DeRK, sorry in the 2nd pic I was just trying to show the distance from the bench at the range, we were shooting both rifles at the time.
the stock that came on my NS522 sees pretty nice honestly. All I've done to the stock so far is free-float the barrel, and remount the bipod lug a few inches closer to the front, I like the stability. (I have some lamp rod that I'm going to put in as pillars, then bed it with JB weld.

My 522 arrived today,well packed and since I already have an older Norinco BRNO knockoff in 22 magnum the fit and finish was about as expected.The stock on that one resembled a 2x4,but slimmed down and refinished greatly improved it and I plan to refinish the 522 as well.Why they don't use even beech hardwood I don't know,it would be so much better than softwood,it can't be that much difference in price for the raw materials.I might try some of those epoxy type wood hardeners .But to get a really accurate .22 for only $199 I'm sure not complaining.I'm also going to see if Boyds has a stock that could be modified to fit

I received mine today.

It has some small-to-medium nicks on the stock, and 2-3 scratch on the action and a bigger one 1/2'' from the muzzle.
Nothing dramatic, but being OCD with my firearms it bothered me a little.

But, there is one thing I would like to know if it's just mine or if it's normal:
The bolt has some wear marks on it like it has been cycled in the action (the plastic bags the rifle and bolt comes in were not sealed either). Is it because it was tested at the factory, or it's because I received an rifle that has been returned to Canam or a demo or something?

(I have pictures if needed, but it's a PITA to post them here!)

On the bright side though, the action seems really tight, it should help with the accuracy


Also, funny thing, the model number written on the box is EM332 and not NS552, I was relieved to see a NS552 when I opened the box!

Got my 2 rifles today, did unpacked them... Impressive rifle for 200.00, trigger is very good, bolt is tight, as my CZ ... Short story, ordered 2 mores for further projects... JP.

I know you should never dryfire a rimfire rifle, but are those made like a 10/22 with a system of some sort that makes it safe to dryfire without damage?

Just to be on the safe side, use spent cases if you don't have snap caps.

Hit and miss with this model. All my CZs have been tack drivers and consistent. For the price point, I can see the attraction of this rifle but again the 2 that I shot were junk. I'm not being biased but I can't get anything behind Norinco.

well mine definitely hits!

first day out with this rifle, its completely stock, not even pillar bedded or free floated yet, did some accuracy testing at 25m after sighting in.

5 shot groups, RWS Rifle Match .22 40gr ammo.

and a 50m grouping, same RWS ammo, was pouring rain that day, and i rushed the last 2 shots a little causing the 2 fliers...

overall to say that im impressed with this rifle would be a huge understatement.

I can't wait to see how it shoots after free floating and pillar bedding!

also trying to find a cheap bulk ammo that the gun likes, so i can stop feeding it RWS.

CCI blazer is doing pretty good right now!

Wow,very nice grouping for a stock 200$ rifle!

What is the scope you have on this and the eight of the rings?

I need to order some rings to mount a burris fullfield II 3-9x40 as low as possible, but I highly doubt low rings would fit as the bolt handle will interfere with the scope. Will medium be high enough to give the clearance, or I'll have to buy high mounts?

Is it regular 3/8 dovetail ring?

i took the Falcon 10x42 scope off my m14 and put it on the NS522, i had a hell of a time trying to find rings since its a 30mm tube, and 30mm tube dovetail rings aren't very common apparently...

The rings are made by UTG, model number RQ2D3154, medium height. would have preferred to find a set in low height, but these were the best i could find on short notice.

At this price with an entry level scope, a knockoff chinese bipod, they make an inexpensive accurate rig to give to the kids, a 22 LR is a perfect learning tool and a pleasure to use cheaply for the youngsters... JP

Oh yes, my 3 are supposed to arrive today, I want to get a baseline with just cleaning first, and then stoning deburring as father suggested to eliminate any scratching/wearing and as I go with the rest, each step I want to knock off a couple targets with different brands of ammo to see the improvement if any!

Well as we all know, most deals with Canam have a time or quantity limit, not sure how many of these he has but if you want some, then now is the time! What is it they say, 1 is none, and 2 is 1, etc.

One ready, 3 more to prepare... This one got a German post 4A 3.5X Vosm... These 22LR will permit to clean up those scopes from my inventory, i really had no use for, i know some kids that will be happy owning their first target rifle, so to speak... JP.

Thanks for the suggestion, for the bolt, it's all fine, got to shoot 4 mags (20 rounds) with the set up and it is flawless, when all 4 rifles will have a scope mounted, i will zero them at 80 yards at the farm on my famous benchrest ( picknik table) with my Ivaco railsway backstop... JP.
