Norinco NZ-85B Magazine Problem

Hi I have a Norinco NZ-85B and recently received 6 new magazines for my birthday. I read somewhere on CGN earlier that regular CZ85 magazines should work, but for some reason they don't fit. It seems like the hole that is used for the catch is smaller in the new one than on the magazine that came with the gun. If I really smack the thing it will catch, but it's not easy.

What should I do? Try to return them and exchange for a different brand? Or Maybe take the dremel to them and try to make the hole bigger? Anyone have this problem before? I don't think the new ones are made by CZ they just came in a zip lock bag labelled cz75/85.

The new one is on the right

Here you can see there's a gap

Try measuring the magazine catch on the pistol. (you'll have to remove the left grip). If it's like the NP40 its not difficult to take out. But u might be able to measure without removing it. Then measure the mag catch hole & see if they're the same. If the new mag catch hole is smaller and you want to widen it, be careful when deciding to widen from the top or bottem.

Hope this helps

Those look like aftermarket mags that I tried in my CZ85, and they were POS's... in addition to the catch-hole, are you ABSOLUTELY sure the mag itself fits into the magwell correctly? Is this why you have to slam it in?

Ok so I went to Target Sports today and tried a couple other magazines. They had a Pro Mag or something like that that didn't really fit at all and I also tried a mag out of a CZ85 combat that they had in stock. The combat mag looked exactly like my new ones, so I'm thinking that they are authentic CZ mags. I had the exact same problem with the combat mag, it goes in fine but doesn't catch. If I wack it real hard a couple times it will finally catch. I wonder if a new mag release will fix the problem. Or should I just return the CZ mags and try to get some Norinco ones?

All things being equal, I'd return the mags and get NZ-85 mags from Marstar. It sucks that they don't fit properly.

ok so I found the problem. I took off the grip and slide and was playing around with it and noticed that the mag was going in nice and easy. Weird, I put the slide back on and the mags don't go in again. Then I notice that the slide release is jiggling when I'm trying to put the mag in. So I take the slide off, put the slide release back in and put in a mag. It looks like the follower in the mag is a little tight and pushing the slide release all the way up. If I wack it, the mag spring goes in just enough to allow the mag to clip in. I'm looking at it and it seems like I wouldn't have this problem if I actually put ammo in the mag. So I load one up and there it is, no more problem.

I still haven't tried it with the slide on, I'll have to take it to the range tomorrow and see if it will work, but I'm sure there won't be a problem.

I had trouble with mags free falling from mine untill I shaved some to the inside of the grips down to let the fall free.

If they don't work out for you drop me a PW and I will see if they work in mine.

Went to the range yesterday. Mags work perfectly when there's ammo in them. They still don't really lock in very well empty but thats not a big deal.

No problems at all dropping the mags, they fall out no problem.
