Norinco Olympia .22lr pistols for $299 worth it? Update got mine.

So browsing around I saw norinco Olympia pistols for $299 new from marstar ( yes I know everyone hates marstar). I'm guessing these are new old stock, I've never even heard of them before, they are a copy of the Walther m1936 Olympia. I kinda like the look of it, and the price and was thinking about trying one out.

I've got a norinco m93 .22lr and it works awesome, so if these are at all comparable I think it would be worth the price. So question is anyone ever have one, see one, or shoot one?

I cannot speak to the Norinco model sold by Marstar, but the Norconia-branded pistols (Norinco made for the German market, from the 1980's) are excellent quality. Further, they ripped off a fantastic design - so simple and easy to take apart, clean, service, etc. They look great and hold very well.

And while this will be a very contentious statement - I like my Norconia TT Olympias far more (and get better accuracy) than the Ruger Mark IV. That may be more a commentary on the original Walther Olympia design than the Norconia copy, although I honestly belive the Norconias were better built than a lot of the Rugers.

I have a couple of High Standards, so I'm not in the market for another .22, but were I to be, I would give it a go. I have a NZ85B and a 1911 Nork, and fit, function and accuracy wise they are both great; and I shoot them a lot.

It peaked my curiosity as well... if it was 199 i would have bought two.
You going to buy it?
 
Just ordered two, reviews are goods and this is an inexpensive way of adding to the pool of restricteds in Kanadea.

Ya I feel like $199-$249 would be more reasonable, I think I might still grab one, than I'll be annoyed when they go on sale next week! I get the impression that this is the first appearance of these in Canada.
 
Wait for Tenda to get some in...they will be cheaper.

Says 25 yards in the vid.
Seriously, a Ruger MK is indestructible and used ones can be found for $300, High Standards, Browning, long list of things I'd grab before one of these for $300.
Mags are proprietary to this Nork too, so SOL there for replacements.
 
Might be a good one to make a barrel mount on the barrel to mount a red sight on, already drilled barrel and you could use part of the barrel weight -ie saddle mount.
I can't see using the weight anyway, I have lots of Hi-Standards with barrel weights I don't use.
For a starter , plinking pistol, looks O.K.

No, the Ruger MK is not indestructible. I know of two where the cocking knob welds broke and the knob fell right off (stainless). Both were successfully welded back on and polished and again look original.
