Norinco Olympia .22lr pistols for $299 worth it? Update got mine.

I had 4 norinco M93 pistols. all had very good accuracy, but I would not buy another for 3 reasons.

#1- the mag has a really cheap plastic follower,..and if you let the follower snap closed, it will break every time.
'#2- alot had firing pin issues. they would break or have Light strikes.

#3- I couldnt get ANY parts for them.
Its to bad, I liked them alot.

OH,,,, you sure didnt want to take it apart,....the instructions that they came with were wrong. I had a post showing the corrected version.

New owners? Didn't know that. They decided to not honor their veteran discount when I tried to order a while back. Never was a problem before and johnone wasn't the friendliest.

Friendly? The guy swore at me over the phone 20 years ago. Didn’t go back for a looooong time. My recent transactions with Marstar have been smooth.

It’s too bad that the new owners didn’t continue the Vetrans discount and it also looks like some prices have increased. But I wish them the best, it’s gotta be a ton of work taking over the business and a big risk due to the current political environment. Hopefully once they get established, they can offer more sales and discounts.

I have a Norc clone of the Woodsman and have a problem. Marstar cannot supply the proper slide stop spring. They sent the wrong spring twice at my expense. Does anyone have this spring? I would give my first born grand child for one. lololol. Spring causes the slide stop to hold the slide back when the magazine empties. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

For $200 more, the S&W SW22 Victory will not have parts sourcing problems.
That was the most important aspect of the decision making when I was looking for a new .22LR handgun.
Less expensive than other domestically made gun to boot.
If parts were more readily available, I'd have no issues with Norinco.

I had one years ago got it for 150 new. Now people sell then for 300 on ee lol

I've bought two m93 from EE, one was $200 other $220 and was like new with two mags, I've still got it and it's excellent for the price. It's the quality of the m93 and accuracy that made me buy the Olympia, hoping its as good.

Just got mine delivered. It's got a nice weight to it, bluing is good to, overall first impression is good, seem to be good build quality to. I still have the feeling these are new old stock. Smelled like an uncleaned sks as soon as I opened the box, and the packing slip looks to be 20+ years old, hard to say. There's also a another number stamped on the bottom of the grip that is not the serial number, I posted a pic, not sure the purpose of it but the numbers 89 at the end are bigger than the first three numbers, makes me wander if 89 is the year it was made. Here's a pic of it, maybe someone else knows.

Looks better than expected, thanks for posting photos. I was expecting the weird coat of arms/knight helmet thing on the slide like the earlier wood grip versions but I much prefer the Norinco emblem. Checkering on the plastic grips looks pretty good too. Enjoy your 'new' Olympia.

The Norconia Olympia would exchange parts with the Walther original I own, but not mags. You could swap slides. I found mine every bit as accurate and slightly more reliable ... the Walther probably needs a new spring. The fit and finish of these Norinco guns is about the same as the Norconia. They should be great little shooters, in a design that won the 1936 Olympics, for less than 1/6 of the price of the original!
