Norinco or Springfield ???

Thanks :)

The Mod 0 shoots sub MOA with Portuguese surplus ammo.

My Mod 1 pictured below shoots MOA with Port.
It's also built on a Norinco receiver.

Both rifles have 118LR chambers and are capable of improved accuracy.

bullspit. the m1a is the answer. I've got one in a supermatch and I'll put it back into "just out of the box state" any day of the week and it will kick a factory norinco through and through.

a few :D

are we gonna put this norc versus springfield thing to rest?
I had contemplated a springfield..... but .... it was simply a matter of what was i getting for my money..... not which is better.
I spent countless hours on the U.S. websites doing my homework, reading reviews, complaints, praises... all of it.
I knew what i wanted, a 18 1/2 inch DMR barrelled, all usgi rifle, capable of 4 moa or better at 300 yards. Seen as i could not have a REAL m14 , I had to make my choice from what was availlable.... Norc or springfield.... at the time.
I obviously chose the norc because I knew what i was getting for 450.00 delivered..... a rifle with a darn fine receiver which in most cases is bang on G.I. spec dimensionally and pretty darn close in hardness. I chose this receiver because it is a known fact that springer receivers are OFTEN out of spec at the scope mounting areas, the oprod channel and the bolt roller bottoming out on the receiver at the right lug location.. ALL COMMON to springfield and uncommon for the norc receivers.

My most recent build which is nearing completion will come in at a total cost of 1850.00
and for that i'm getting a rifle with a Krieger DMR SS barrel, shortened to 18 3/4 , smith enterprise crazy horse NM gas assembly, sadlak piston, sadlak guide rod, wolf extra power springs, National Match tuned usgi trigger group with Smith Ent Crazy horse pin set and hammer spring, and all new trigger parts (H&R) including the housing. All other parts are new or as new H&R Usgi, including a National match M14 front and rear sight set. A norc receiver will wear all these juicy bits. Obviously I have not shot this for groups yet, she is still on the bench.
But dimes for dollars...... show me what you can get for 1850.00 from the kids at springfield that is comparable component wise.
obviously I am building this rifle myself and most folks can't do this but because i am capable of this, I chose the norc receiver over a springfield receiver.

So..... regardless of the silly argument of which is better...... :slap:
i think it's a simple as this..... if you are a "builder" the norc is a good way to get a quality receiver to start from due to cost and dimension .... not so with the springer

If you want a U.S. assembled rifle (from outsourced aftermarket, non G.I. parts) with a warranty so that in case it didn't come the way it should've..... and you don't want to build or tweak...... buy a springer

mind you the norcs have a 1 year warranty through marstar.......

final word... how big is your wallet :D

I saved ever spare penny I could and bought a SAI Loaded for 2,400$ + taxes and I am happy with it. I can use it as my hunting rifle both here and in the US and they got a life time warranty, so if it goes to sh*t cause of manufacturing defects it will go UPS to Geneseo Il. and I wont have to worry about it. :)

Norinco's are good too. Heck every gun in this world will do its job if you maintain and treat it right.

i have a norinco m14 s and love it.i would not hesitate buying a springfield at all, the ones i have seen look really nice.i like the design in general.easy to work on and reliable. then again i never met a gun i did not like for some reason.classic, black, green, mean, some sort of shooting machine!

Shortened barrel or Krieger 18.5'?

Shortened barrel or Krieger 18.5'?

Neither, both are SEI/Wilson barrels.
One is a Crazy Horse medium heavy, the other is a chrome lined standard profile.
Both are 18.0" with 1:10 ROT and 4 grooves ... living in the state of Georgia has it's advantages ;)

AHHHHHH! :) Going through SEI would be such a cinch since they ship up here and they take care of the paperwork etc.. but theirs too is half an inch short for us for more liberty..

Question though: Since going with a shorter barrel & using factory 147gr FMJ or 155gr BTHP's, what ROT would you go with for an 18.5'' er?

Also it seems Krieger only has Chrome Moly left in stock since the barrel is discontinued..Any issue someone should know about the above.

Thanks
Steve

I'm not so sure he will ship here anymore(barrells at least). I sent him an email enquiring about shipping a barrel here and he replied that I would have to have someone get it on his side of the border and get the paperwork done myself. Could be he was just to busy to bother with it at the time

i would buy a springfield because its the authentic .. the real deal.. etc etc..
thats the only reason..
i like norcs .. they perform well for their cost.. im not afraid to beat something with it incase it gets scratches .. chopping down the barrel - sweet as

I agree with Fenix NZ, it's true whether you like it or not....Norinco is a knock off of the Springfield M1A rifle. I've owned my Norinco M14 for about 5 years and love it, easy purchase when it's $500....the M1A is over 2 f*ck'n K, that's why not too many people own them and praise their cheap-ass Norinco's

If I could, I'd throw my piece-of-sh*t Norinco in the fireplace and grab an AUTHENTIC Sprinfield Armory M1A. Incorporated my ass....Springfield Armory was the original manufacturer of the infamous M1 Garand & M1A/M14

Just like when I was a little guy, and bought a Norinco HP-9, sold the sh*tbox and grabbed my self a Remington 870 Marine Magmun, only then did I appreciate the differences between quality, craftsmanship, finish, etc.

Compare those sh*tty Norinco 1911's to a TRUE Colt Government Model .45
Compare an HP-9 to a Remington 870
Compare an M14S to a Springfield M1A

Just doesn't add up...

When I settle some stuff and gather up some $$$, I'm going to walk into my local gunstore and make the purchase of a NIB Sprinfield Armory M1A Loaded in a walnut stock....and it's going to feel GREAT

You do realize that Springfield Armory Inc. the maker of the M1A is unrelated to the original Springfield Armory that made weaponry for the US Govt? Its not the same plant and its not the same people. The simply have acquired the name. They farm out much of their components.

X2 to what Grizzlypeg said.

Do your ####ing research before you post crap like that. There have been loads of crappy M1A's out there. M1A's are not the be all, end all that you might like to think they are. They may have better fit and finish the Norc's but the Norc's are actually closer to the original M14 spec.
