Norinco red boc x39

hit and miss honestly, ran some years ago in my xcr no issue, then got more for my m10x rusted to hell

Just scooped 25 boxes and did the test last night, 1 hour in the canned ammo was no longer black already rusted (61 over 85 head stamp). Red box ammo was 3X less carbon and zero rust, 311 over 19 head stamp.

I don't know about red box 18 (I know white box 18 has problems with corrosive rounds mixed in). Red box 311 19 and Red box 311 20 are good - I have tested literally thousands of rounds through my SKSes of this, with zero problems.

White box 14 has also been fine for me.

Are the 'Red Box' supposed to be Hotter than ChiMilSurp ? Maybe the recent 'tons' of this being sold are dangerous in "Other Brands" too ?
PS - Older SKS are tanks, IDK about 'newer' Chinese/'other' ones.

just got this in the email from the dealer that sold me the 1500

"please take note that the use of norinco 7.62x39 122 grain ammunition in the howa M1500 mini action will void the legacy sports international warrenty"

"please instruct your customers to not use the ammunition as legacy { howa} have had several reports of this ammunition causing catastrophic failure in the rifles"

This is interesting, but I would say it may be misleading too...because given the fact that there are SOME Norinco years of this ammo that have been shown to be corrosive, it doesn't mean that ALL of it is. This is also the problem with the Cabela's reviews - people aren't saying exactly what headstamp they are using - so the general consumer will automatically think it is all bad. So while there is a bit of truth to this ammo causing problems, it is only certain years that have issues. A number of us on CGN have tested the 311 19 and 20 and can say unequivocally it is non corrosive.

Now, if this causes OTHER problems with the Howa, that's another story, but it would be nice for that retailer to expound exactly on WHAT the issues are and I am pretty sure the retailer is not aware that there are years of this ammo which is problem free. Now that said, I totally get the position whereby someone can say if Norinco ammo didn't have these hit and miss issues, this would not even be a factor here. But the fact that it does and it can be demonstrably shown it is only certain years that have corrosive primers mixed in, it seems like Legacy Sports is simply made a generally wide statement, which may not be entirely accurate.

This is of particular interest to me because I was looking at a Howa 1500 as my next gun (though not chambered in 7.62x39)
