The stuff I've been shooting has definitely been non-corrosive. Headstamp 20.

What's the core of the bullets made with anyway? Is it lead or steel core?

"Most" of the Chinese and the 'Euro x39 M-S' all are 'soft-steel' core. The steel is to cut costs, Not for AP benefit which is small for 'soft'. And so, Not significantly more damaging than lead-FMJ (from what I've read, I haven't 'tested on plates).

As for Cabelas 're-stock', ask your local. Mine has said 'Who knows' about any variety of ammo.

I never participated in any of the old threads so I don’t know if this was mentioned.

I wonder if the corrosive examples that were packed in non-corrosive boxes were ever subject to store staff or end user swapping ammo out as they are virtually indistinguishable from each other. It’s conceivable.

I mean it’s always easy to blame the Chinese manufacturer but is it really them?

I avoid buying steel cased 7.62x39 used for this very reason unless I’m getting it at corrosive pricing.

Funny timing.

Just went through my stash.

Found old norinco, gray box, yellow box, and some unknown chinese psp rounds.

Strangely enough, found some russian hollowpoint.

And some yugoslavian brass soft point.

Most boxes had stickers under $5.

Guess I'll have to grab some redbox if I see them on sale
