I was debating on buying a Norinco 22LR rifle and 22LR hand gun. I was advised not to by a gun store that does not supply them. He said they were not accurate and the mags and extractors were garbage.

Is this true? I was looking for a cheap, reliable, accurate plinker. But it doesn't look like there are any made.

I have a JW-14, other than it's a real b*tch to put back together when you take it appart for cleaning, it has proven reliable to me (and seems to be built like a brick sh*thouse, at least the bolt and firing pin are), and if you find a brand and batch of ammo it likes (a concern to all .22's) it will quite happily print groups smaller than a 25 cent piece at 50M all day long (with the scope). Mine likes remington thunderbolt hyper-velocity.

I have a number of Norinco 22 bolt action rimfires. Some are picky about ammuntion but all are just as accurate as the ruger 10/22, marlin 22s, brnos #2, #3, and #4.
They all like T22s by Winchester, and they all give a ragged hole group at 25 metres when you find ammo they like - the same as the Savage 22.
none are finished as nice as the BRNO. Some have thick and clunky stocks that could stand to be parred down.

The first one I bought was almost twenty years ago and it was stamped "golden arrow" (JW-15) . It needed to be glass bedded as the inleting put an upward bend in the barrel. It shoots under 1/2 inch at fifty metres with T22 ammo and even better with Ely 10x.

As for the semi autos and levers. I haven't had any experience.

The bolt guns are not as pretty as a Brno, and the Brno will give better accuracy with more brands of ammo, but with the right ammo the Chinese bolt gun will almost give as small groups as any other brand of 22 rimfire.

My Norinco model 93 is an incredibly accurate .22 rimfire. I do almost as well with it as I can shoot with my browning medalist or my smith 41.

I purchased a JW15 from Marstar last year as an inexpensive plinker. It must have been built on a Monday morning after a big party, cuz it grouped like a shotgun at 25M, barely keeping on the paper:eek: . Knowing this was wrong, Marstar quickly replaced it and the replacement is a real sweet unit.:D Again, tight groups at 25M. The finish is a bit less than desirable:( , but it shoots well. Its like you hear so often, some are better than others, but at least with a dealer to stand behind it you should be okay.
Good luck
dB:)

X1 haha, always the dreaded re-assembly! Anyone know where i can find additional mags for it? I heard older marlin mags will work, i just don't know which model.

I picked up the 22 magnum years ago from SIR-about $100.It shoots pretty good, but as everyone else says, not as nicely finished as my BRNO 22

I bought my girlfriend a JW-15 last year, she took her first limit of grouse with it too, she loves it. I painted the crappy brown stock black and free floated the barrel. Put a Bushnell 4X scope and it'll hit popcans at 75 yards no prob. Its a good price for a useful tool. It definitely not a show piece. The saftey is also very stiff, but I don't trust them anyway. We just chamber a round and hold the trigger so it does not #### the rifle. When its time to shoot, just lift and lower the bolt to #### it. Have fun!!
