Hello!

I would like to ask owners/former owners/those that had tried a Norinco copy of the SIG P226 for their opinions on this firearm.

Here are some questions I would like to ask about it:

- How much have you paid for it?
- How many rounds have you fired from your Norinco NP58?
- Any problems?
- What do you like/dislike about it?
- What is the quality of manufacture like?
- Is it worth the money or would you recommend something else?

Now some less general questions...
- Is the slide machined from one solid block of steel or is it a 3-piece pressed slide like P226s used to have a while back?
- Are parts mostly interchangeable with SIG P226?

Thanks in advance!

I have not owned one but I have seen them used by others in IPSC and IDPA matches and they seem to have numerous stoppages. These would be the smaller versions more like Norinco copies of the SIG 228. From what I have seen I would stay away from them unless this gun is totally different than the older Norinco copies of the Sig.

I got my NP-58 two days ago. Have not shot it yet. The plastic grips suck (grips that suck is a given with most norincos). So I put on some Pachmyers. One of the grip screws had the threads strip, I tightened it yes, but I didn't reef on it, so I think the thread was a bit soft.

Other than that I think the finish is pretty good. I paid $390 for it shipped with taxes from Can Am. For $390 total I'm happy. I bought a norc version b/c I want to see how I like the sig design.

As for the grip screws I bought some NP-22 screws from Marstar with some other stuff I ordered from them.

So far I'm happy with it, just gotta see how I like it once I fire it.

The slide colour always looks pretty bad in pictures. But in person it looks fine.

Isn't the issue how the Nork frames will stand up to .40S&W? In 9mm I've read mostly good reviews - owned one for a while with no complaints.

I bought an NP34 from a CGNer a few months ago. Fit and finish is pretty good, and I haven't had any problems with it yet. I've probably put 1500 rounds through it, and it's more accurate than any other pistol I've shot.

I'm really tempted to buy one of these because of the price. But I won't cause I want a real SIG first before I go out and buy a wannabe.

I bought one from Canadaammo when it is in stock last December. Very good deal and a great gun too. The single action is sweet but the double action is terrible. Regarding accuracy, you'll be amazed by these Norks gun. I shoot it side by side with my P226 Equinox (genuine Sig), and the grouping is roughly the same. (4 times the price of Nork) Won't regret for this one.

but you could buy 3 and a half norincos for the price of one 226.... which would let you shoot with both hands and a foot, all at the same time!

I actually bought Cocker's NP58. I haven't fired the 40 yet, but I have fired it in 9mm. I put a Sig 226 slide and barrel on it and it is damn accurate. The 40 mags work for both calibres too. The brand new 40 slide and barrel is up for sale right now in the EE (shameless plug). I wanted a cheap way of getting a 226 with a rail on it and this was the best approach for me.
I will put some pics up of it when I can.
Cheers,
Hoddie
