Norinco SKS Cleaning Kit Issue

The trap door on my stock that should close after the cleaning kit is put back in wont close when the cleaning kit is inside the stock. Am I missing something?

I thought I had after getting my finger jammed up an pinched twice. Just did it with a pen and it closed up.

Always push the trap with your fingernail towards the hinge. That way it won't bite

Never gonna stick my finger back in again. Pen or a marker from here on out
