I'm really interested in this gun and was wondering what everybody's opinion is of this weapon . I've been doing my reading on the Sks , both Russian and Chinese and they both seem like good solid shooters , but of the Chinese copies there are both civilian and millatary version , and I think the millatary one is the one to have , as the civilian one may or may not have issues ? I'm not sure what version this gun has but in the email I got from frontier firearms there described as " all new production Norincos non refurbished " I've also read some stuff about the 5/30 mags having feeding and jamming issues and I'm wondering what you guys that have these think . Thanks for reading , Ernst. http://frontierfirearms.ca/index.php/firearms/sks-rifles/norinco-sks-m4-rail-pistol-grip.html

It's nice that it comes with the stock installed on the rifle. I want one of these but I also want the new SKS stock made by archangel. There is a topic a few down from this one about it it is coming out in about a month and looks sweet.

you'd provably be better off just buying the Chinese military version, that way you'd have an original stock and the metal magazine. You could buy a Tapco stock and a plastic mag later

That's kinda what I'm thinking , but it also the most expensive then I have to store all the parts..... The thing is I'm not sure it isn't the military one , I better make a phone call !

I don't like buying stuff made in china but I have no idea of the quality of a Chinese SKS I would prefer a Russian rifle.

I prefer the Russian to , but I'd rather " sportize " a Chinese one and leave the Russian as is . I really like the look and feel of the original but the length of pull is so short I feel like the end of the barrel is going to hit me in the nose ! So the adjustable length of pull on the m4 would be nice to have .

You can get a rubber spacer that fits right on the butt of the original stock, makes the length of pull much more comfortable.

I was in the same boat at the beginning of the year. I ended up with the $75 SKS package from marstar with 1440 rounds. Chinese military, all matching numbers. Torn it apart and rebuilt it with a tapco stock system: upper and lower rails, 5/20 mags, adjustable stock, and kept the original upper gas piston assembly. I have put almost 1000 rounds through it and she runs and functions like a champ. I am meticulous about my cleaning regime after the range, but I couldnt think of one bad thing to say about it. Shoots super accurately as well. dont shy from the Norcino because 'its made in China'. There are duds in every country, but the SKS design is straight forward, simple, and works. This is why it was mass produced in so many countries.

Ill try to post of picture of my build.

What Tazer said x 2. My Chinese SKS is my go to rifle, it always comes with me. It's Tapoc'd and really a nice shooter. My Russian is stock, shoots whatever I put in it, but the stock needs more length so I use a 2 inch pad.
The Chinese will fire a real nice group at 100 using handloads and an acceptable group using surplus. Just no reason not to get the Norinco.

That's good to hear , I'm glad your enjoying the sks build ,I'm looking forward to starting mine ! I was out shooting this Saturday and had the opurtunity to shoot a sks and really enjoyed the weapon , it totally sold me on it , now I'm just debating witch way I should go . First way is to buy the m4 from frontier (Chinese ) or way 2 is buy a Russian sks so I have all the parts then buy the tapco stock system , bipod , forgrip ....... Admitidly this is the more expensive way to do it , but hey what the hell " it's only money " gulp...... Lol !

That's awesome , I can't wait to get mine now ! One question though can you still use the stripper clips with the tapco mags ? I'm pretty sure you can but it never hurts to ask the man that owns one

My experience with the Tapco mag - looks cool. I ended up putting the steel mag back on, just more reliable, better ergonomics, tougher.

I just Tapco'd my 51 Russian refurb, and the stock fit just right. The mag, however, is what needed some help. I had to do some minor sanding to get it to fit. I thought it would be the other way around, but you never know with an SKS, I guess.
