Hey all, I am new to the gun game and the idea of spending a couple hundred dollars for 500 rounds of non corrosive ammo to take to the range is very appealing. Should I have any concerns over running this stuff through a Savage 99 and a CIL 950 (Savage110), both .308? Thanks for the help.

I bought the same thing for one of my bolt action .308 rifles. I never had any failures in the 200 rounds. It's not the most accurate but it goes bang. The norinco stuff I had was steel cased and copper washed.

I have 223 norky ammo. Tried shooting out of my Weatherby S2. about 1 in four with puncture the primer. NEVER have that issue with Winny white box, federal (American Eagle) or Remmy stuff, only the nork stuff. On the opposite spectrum, never had any issues shooting the norc stuff out of my Mini-14.

The Chinese 762NATO ammo is bang on NATO velocity spec on around a 145grFMJ bullet. I chronographed it at 2804fps average at 15 feet. That's bang on for 2740ish at 25 meters for 762NATO IIRC. So it's full power .308Win ammo if your 99 likes that.

I never fired it form an accurate rifle so can't comment on accuracy in such. In military type autoloading rifles it's on par and better than some 762/,308FMJ ammo. It's copper washed, steel cored ammo, some say is a little harder on barrels than cup and core gliding metal jackets. I haven't had two barrel for a side by side burn out to check. There 2000 rounds through my chrome lined M-14 with apparent little throat erosion so far. The M-99 barrel of unknown wear at this point, I'm not sure what it would be like in another 1000 rounds.

It's cheap ammo to practice your off hand shooting with. Bench you rifle, see how it does, now you have you have your benchmark, say 2-3MOA, now try to put 3 of them standing into a 6" bull at 100yards, if you do it consistently, you are now a rifleman.;):p

Good luck RTS.
