I did go find it myself, and I posted everything in the black rifle forum. In fact, I am just about the only one on here who did anything other than have my eyes glaze over at the prospect of playing with a new black rifle toy, even when what was coming from the retailers was so obviously implausible given the history of the T97.
Did you know that just within the last 4 weeks North Sylva had their "T97NS prototype" classified as Prohibited? Look it up yourself, or find somebody that knows how to do it, if you don't believe me. It is all there in the publically accessible records. The classification of firearms is not some private matter between a business and the government.
Now, after just having been rejected, North Sylva are giving it another try.... hoping to get a classification other than Prohibited. I commend them for that. This will be attempt number 5, by my count, to try and bring a Restricted or Non-Restricted version of the T97 to the Canadian market. I sincerely wish them luck with this. I hope this is the one, I hope it happens and I hope it happens quickly, but for now we all need to snap out of this Type 97 frenzy and calm down. It's just an application at this point. There has been no approval of anything. The pre-ordering of unapproved firearms is pointless, and I would say actively harmful to these businesses.
There is at least one dealer whose website is still saying "approved for Canada as Non-Restricted" and "coming in Early Spring 2013", which is all pure speculation, and they are taking $250 deposits. 200 pre-orders with a $250 deposit = $50,000. Do you not see a problem here?
