That's why I mentioned the Liberals - on a grand scheme of things they're moderate right. NDP is the closest party approaching socialism, but not all there because they have to cater to the dumb hipster crowd. With that being said, a good chunk of their voter base is rural, including hunters and people who have to defend their land from predators, so they have to do pull a balancing act. Green is somewhere between them and the fiberals and BQ.. They're Quebec's problem. Here's a short video clip from one of the most socialist countries on our planet

Sweden and Norway, both pretty leftist countries, allow their citizens to own suppressors. Our country is a joke in every sense of the word.

Ya, libs used to be about individual rights and power to the people. Nowadays they're just a group of self pandering statist pigs. Co opted, perhaps.

Amazing that gun owners are like raging hormone teenage boys that get so excited over new toys. Let's tar and feature the alleged doubter for daring to spoil any fun with history and available facts. Hopefully these gun owners never go into the investment market.

its working for me...;)

I have been involved in the investment market for 20 years. Full of childish behaviour and just a casino except people try to act like they are investing when they are really gambling. Lots of money to be made though. :D

Not to mention the fact that there still has not been an official FRT# provided by NS.

I do believe someone checked the other day and there still wasnt one... so I am still thinking it may be a while before we see the T97NSR. But at least there are pictures now, which we are apparently not allowed to see :p

^Ghostie posted bunch of snapshots showing no FRT.

At least NS posted ONE pics to make me salivate. Wouldn't it be a nice treat to see the FRT approved with NR status follow by a rifle in the mail, can always hope.

Interesting positive developments on T97 today.

From all of the available information, I would suggest the most likely scenario is: there was some kind of delay in getting the NSR prototype from China - and that is what has been the source of all the craziness since December when NS put it in their dealer book. Now- presumably - NS has the prototype and they have either submitted it recently, or they will submit their sample in the near future - and I, for one, certainly hope that they get the classification they are hoping for, and that this process is completed by the RCMP within a reasonable time.

As I mentioned before, the RCMP had no sample as of about the third week of February. You can choose to believe that or not, but it is immaterial, as it certainly looks like they have a sample now. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that they get a positive result on classification - as soon as they can.

Well we know we have photos of the gun. Everything else is just guess work. Do the RCMP have the gun for testing? Is testing done? No answers. Just pictures and a promise of an impending update from NS. Great to have pics, still very little info.

I totally agree. The whole thing has been something of a "cautionary tale" about the pitfalls of trying to do business, the business of bringing new types of semi-automatic firearms to market in Canada, in a semi-public way. I'm sure if NS had this to do over again they would do alot of things differently. Somebody jumped the gun, bigtime, back in December of 2012 - and NS has been really defensive about the whole mess ever since - which is understandable. This is their baby, and they very clearly do not see themselves as answerable to the likes of you and me. Which is fine. They've been challenged on this forum, over-and-over again, to provide real information - and they choose not to. The only problem I ever had with any of this was the "jumping the gun" thing back in December. Making claims which are so easily and completely refuted - to which they have no answers (Hence their lack of information ever since).

What I said in my comments above... I'm just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I think they deserve at least that for all their efforts to bring a new type of firearm to market in Canada which, as we all know, has become exceedingly difficult, at least in terms of any firearm which has some sort of connection to an automatic firearm - whether that be through name, appearance, or design.

You are right, all we really know for sure is: (1) no FRT#; (2) someone took a picture of a rifle with Type 97NSR printed on it. I would like to believe that they have, or soon will, submit a sample, but you are right - none of us have anything to go on but hope in that regard.

I can totally see why different businesses want to tell their target market about upcoming products. The people running the business are probably just as excited about it as we are. It's fun and exciting to see these new products coming to Canada, but in the post-T97A world, every one of these new products is just one negative classification decision away from a total public relations meltdown for the importer... if they have brought the public "on board" before the classification process is complete. I guess that is the lesson of this whole thing: don't bring the public on-board until you have something to sell them.

Having said all that, I am of the belief that both NS and CanAm will (or possibily already have) submitted samples for classification - and if they have done their homework - the RCMP is at some point going to have to classify these samples, and it may not be so easy for them to simply claim "para. (c)" of the definition of "Prohibited Firearm" in s. 84(1) of the Criminal Code this time.

Maybe you're missing the point. I fixed it for you. IMO ...

Can anyone post on the quality/reliability of Norinco? I handled my cousin's M305 over Christmas....he had just got it and I didn't get a chance to shoot it, but I honestly wasn't impressed. It looked/felt really rough to me.
