Norinco Tokarev ???

i went to Epp's and played with the nork and the russian tokarevs and the old russian one felt better. and i liked the little CCCP on the grips. :D the norks dont have that.

the grip is great. i wouldnt know about the trigger though. they dont like ppl dry fireing their guns.

i also held the BD38 and the stg 44. the 44 was weird. woulda bought the russian tokarev. the bd38. the sgt44 are both seriously over priced.

anyways. russian Tork will be great once i get the money.

How di you arrive at the conclusion that these are "seriously over priced" ?

Please let me know how and where we can get these guns manufactured to the same high level of quality at a LOWER price....

uh...for starters...the stg-44 is stamped. this is a cheap way to make firearms. these did not cost much to make during the war. the only reason these are so higly priced is that there isnt many of them and their a little exclusive.

and. these are +60 year old technology...
 
stamping is cheap....relative to forging. Stamping is expensive compared to casting or MIM, or plastic injection moulding. 60 years ago what was considered "cheap" is a lot different than what is now considered cheap. The remakes of those old firearms are very precise, if they weren't they'd be too close (fire control interchange is not desireable) and precision costs money. Like my mechanic says, ' Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?' How close a repro do you want, without stepping over the line?

I bet so is your Grandma and things worked out OK for your parents, and you. :p :D

I have several guns that fit this time frame and let me tell yah they are better built then most of the new junk out there. Besides which every target shooter or hunter firearm we have today is a by product of what was once the cutting edge of military technology at the time. :)

Pick up a full wood Pattern 14 Enfield some time and consider where it has been, who has held it, and what it was built to endure. Yah just can't get that with the latest plastic stocked fad cartridge shooter of the month. :)
 
Stamping is a very fast way of making parts. But is is among the most expensive methods in terms of capital costs for dies and machines. I am scared to think what the dies cost to make for the 44. Even the dies for an AR15 mag are in the region of $250k.
 
There is no cheap way to make an all metal gun anymore...the production numbers from a military during wartime can make stamping guns efficient.

Making orders for North American domestic use is a little bit different. ;)
 
For a centerfire pistol, there is no cheaper lead thrower. If you buy by the crate, you're approaching the cheapness of reloaded rounds without the backache from hunting down brass.

The grips are a bit hokey. I like the feel of them, but I don't like how they're retained. They've got these crazy levers that tend to rattle loose. Superglue is your friend.
 
I picked up my Type 54 on Sunday :D. It's not even registered as a Norc! The reg says "Tokarev Type 54" and includes the date of manufacture stamp. This pistol appears to be new (not an arsenal refurb) as all of the parts are serial numbered the same (even the bushing). It took about 2 hours to get the cosmo out of this thing, the magazine was almost solid. The trigger is actually not bad, I'll do the pictures and review thing when I get to the range with it, but so far I'm impressed with the design and manufacture.
 
Pullen's (nothing against Marstar or anyone else but we've got 2 gunshops in this town and I want to keep both of them) the drop in centre for shooting addicts.
