where can I buy a Norinco type 54? I just couldn't find it anywhere... and is it legal to remove that add-on safety? thanks.

If you buy it from Marstar in the 54 configuration (7.62) it comes without that annoying add-on safety:

Marstar has two Type 54's in their used section (excellent + with two magazines) for $149 each. Sounds like a deal, especially as I'm sure they'll offer their usual guarantee with them.
