Norinco triggers yikes...

I just got one of those Norinco deals, and the trigger pull between the Norc and my Core15 is night and day.

Core15: About 5.5lbs, reasonably smooth, predictable reset, could be crisper. While I could use a bit lighter and crisper for competition use, overall I'm satisfied with this trigger
Norinco: About 8.5lbs, crazy-gritty, vague, definitely not crisp. If I were to do any serious shooting with this rifle, I'd invest in a dropin kit or do a good amount of polishing

Just posting some observations. The Norc is a temporary thing, so it's not like I'll be keeping it, but I'm betting the intended owner will be taking it to his club's smith for a bit of work
 
The trigger and sear mating surfaces are not polished, just parkerized and stuck in there. My rifle didn't even appear to be proof tested, no evidence of any firing at all. There is a reason these were $530....
 
Hmmm...My DA556 seems to have a fairly decent trigger, as military rifles go. I should measure it... Later: I don't have a proper trigger gauge, but mine appears to be somewhat north of 8lb as well.

Like a lot of Norinco products, I suspect a little handwork on the internals will make a lot of improvement.

I have the DA556 as well, trigger is a bit creepy but predictable. My sophisticated luggage scale trigger measure says 6.5 lbs. Not in a position to go higher end, this one suits what I do and is a lot better than me yelling "bang bang";)

$699, actually. I suspected it was/is an effort to move old stock before the new arrives.

My trigger isn't bad. Then again I shoot a lot of Mosins and feel that the majority of those aren't bad either. Predictability means more to me than a light pull and clean break.
 
I got spoiled ever since I did my first trigger job on the Norc SKS.. Brought her down from 14lbs to 5.5 (just like the Core15), kept it as dual stage but shorter travel, crisp, clean break. My rimfire rifles are in the 2-3lbs range and only my handgun is at 8lbs in double-action (3.5lbs single). That's what sucks about doing your own trigger jobs.. You become a snob :cool:

Starts with a trigger, then springs, small parts, furniture, BCG, in the end you have more into it then a PSA from IRUNGUNS....lol
Personally I think they are either a "like it and keep it as is", or dump it and drop $750 at IRUNGUNS for something decent....not worth upgrading anything on these IMHO.
