I received my Nork back from Armco on Monday and got to the range today to shoot it.

I had the tune-up package done as well as having the mag well beveled and the feet of the barrel checked. Everything moves much more smoothly and the trigger is very nice and crisp, I believe he sets it to 3.5 lbs. The work on the mag well is very nicely done and makes a big difference in getting the mag seated quicker.

He did a nice job de-burring various spots and trued up the breech face. What I didn’t expect was the job he did in regards to the feet of the barrel. They were hitting the frame a bit and causing some peening and he milled out the frame so that it has the proper bow tie that Norinco does not machine in. I don’t have my camera at the moment but am attaching a pic from the 1911 site that shows what I am talking about.

I fired 100 rounds (thanks again Peter) out of it and am very happy. I was able to keep about 90% of the shots in a nice tight pattern in the A zone shooting both deliberate and rapid from 25 yds.

I want to thank Gunnar publicly for the quality work he did on my gun.

Good report, thanks for that.

Been tempted to order a tuned Norc commander from Armco myself...

Even after parting with my Colt combat commander .45 last year....

But cool/interesting stuff popping up on the EE here has kept me way-layed on that purchase...

I sent in my NP-29 for a tune-up and also was very happy with the results. The trigger pull was definatly crisper. I'm thinking of getting a hold of gunnar to see if he can work his magic on a New England revolver i have that has an insane 20+lbs trigger pull.
The only problem i have with Gunnar and Armco is that they aren't located in Manitoba or better yet next door. :bangHead:

I hear the that what he really does is coats his naked body in coconut oil and then rubs your gun all over himself, honestly.......:D

Saw him today and told how happy I am with my new Commander, he does great work!

ssssssss

Ive bought several guns from gunnar, my last was a gunnar tuned norc commander and all i can say is wow, he told me i would love it and thats an understatement!!!

With reviews like that I'm wishin' I could stay off the EE for long enough to get one...

Armco Norc

I'm waiting on a 5" Norinco from him. He is upgrading the sights (Yost-Bonitz retro) for me, ensuring good barrel lug and bushing fit, fitting a new arched mainspring housing with a lanyard loop, and his usualy smoothing. I wanted a basic military looking .45 that would be reliable and rugged. I can't wait to get it.
