I have the same rifle but in 223 with 18.5" barrel

It has a slide on/off bayonet - notice the lug in this close up picture ...

Alot of the early 56's with the proper bbl length went to the US with the folding spike bayo's..some were not- with the usual AKM type bayonet.WE got the 18.5 bbled non restricted versions up here.....*sigh*....

I hate you guys what I'd give for that....

If only I hadn't been busy chasing tail back then I would have paid attention to what was happening in the gun world and I'd have my AK and FN Maybe I can sell a kidney and buy a Valmet some day
