CanAm,

I was hoping you could give CGNers a breakdown on the specs for the T97A?

1) Weight Unloaded?

2) Overall Length?

3) Chrome Lined Barrel and Chamber?

4) Sights?

5) Differences between NSR and Dominion Arms version, if any?

Anything else you wish to share.

Thank you.

I second that as well. I like as much info as possible before I drop some coin... or even pre-order. This rifle is actually starting to grow on me...kinda reminds me of the Tavor... in a game of thrones kinda way... "Look....It's Type 97 snow........ Tavor's Bastard......"

Do you want a comparison of the Type 97a, the NSR, and the NRR? Or just the NSR and the NRR?

Given Chinese production, the NRR and NSR could very well be identical in every way, save for decalling. Obviously the receivers of the NSR/NRR are different than that of the 97a given its legal status.

The FRT lists the 97a and the NSR as two very different guns. Asking for specs on the 97a won't give you any details of the new versions.

Let's see what the dealers have to say... the peeps that actually have the info.

You seem to be very critical, but still without an answer.

1) Weight Unloaded? Wiki Type 95 was around 6.4lbs, so take that as a reference, maybe a bit more due to magwel and longer barrel.

2) Overall Length? On Wiki it seems to be around 24.5 for 14.5 barrel, 18.5 barrel makes 28.5"?

3) Chrome Lined Barrel and Chamber? Dunno, probably doesn't matter much, but CL is always better

4) Sights? Only irons so far, but we still see proposed handguard rail that you could co-witness with the irons.

5) Differences between NSR and Dominion Arms version, if any? Speculation says it is the same

But of course, we'll see what CanadaAmmo says.

Not critical at all. I'm waiting eagerly to get one and have been watching the threads accordingly.

All of the OP's questions have been asked before, to both suppliers and no real answers have been given. I'm eager to know as well the details he/she has asked for.

My point is, I personally don't expect to see much difference between the NSR or the NRR. Historically Norinco/Polytech have demonstrated as much with examples such as the M305/M14S, various shotguns, etc. Different names, all else the same.

The Type 97a though is a different gun, if in receiver only.

After shooting a Tavor, i knew, i would not spend 3K on one but for under one K, the risk aint big, for that kind of money you will never be stuck with it, i am confident it will be a decent performer... JP.

The consensus seems to be that the NSR is chrome lined, expected delivery from most suppliers is listed around Mid August.
Optics are attached to a simple Pic rail mounted on the carry handle (not included)

Very good chance I'm just dumb, but by the looks of this picture, the carry handle looks integrated? As in, non removable. Or am I missing something? Anyone have pics without the carry handle?

EDIT: Unless I'm REALLY dumb and you just meant Optics Not Included...

I think he meant the rail is not included. You're not dumb, unless you feel that you are, and if that's the case you can't help it... so all is good.
