I want to set up a couple of 97 clones to hold 6 rounds for Wild Bunch shooting.

I trimmed the factory springs but I am not happy with the result.

I am considering ordering some Xtra-Power mag springs from Wolff and trimming them to fit.

I am interested in hearing from Cowboy Action shooters who have been through this process.

How did you do it? What springs did you use? etc etc :)

Is the follower hollow (so the spring fits right up inside) or a solid piece of dowel. Some of those old girls have had the follower changed for one reason or another and sometimes a small bit of room can be had by making sure the spring is only separated from a round by a thin steel cup...other than that spring length is about the only way to mess with a 97 cap...besides re-loads on the clock are part of the fun in the game..

Somewhat interested in comments here for cowboy action purposes. However, I made a removable "dildo" for the mag tube to limit it to 2 1/2 shells for hunting purposes in Ontario where the shotgun is limited to 2+1.

They are at our club, "use what ya brung" puts more people in the game.

Gotcha. I shot a Wild Bunch side match at SASS Nats lats year in Mission. My '97 only loaded 5 so I shot those and then threw one in for the last shot. It was okay but no reloading for misses/makeups were allowed. I want to set my guns up so I can shoot 6 and forget the top up.
