Apologies if this has been asked and answered in previous threads, but I am wondering if anyone can testify to the safety and reliability of Norinco's "copy" of the Winchester 1897 shotgun. The reason I ask is because I read somewhere that the shotgun is actually a clone of the Winchester 1893, not the 1897. The 1893 was designed for black powder ammunition in a time when smokeless powder was becoming mainstream. Fearing a swarm of lawsuits from customers who might get injured or killed by exploding 1893s firing smokeless powder ammunition, the Winchester company recalled all its 1893s and offered to exchange them with brand new 1897s free-of-charge. If Norinco's "1897 clone" is a copy of something designed for black powder ammunition, wouldn't there still be a risk of a fatal malfunction with modern smokeless powder ammunution? Any personal experiences and incite would be most appreciated.
