I see Marstar has these on for $149. Been thinking of getting a "plinker" to see if the "Bullseye" Target game is for me (I know , I know ...most people will say right away ...get the Ruger Mark 2 ...the Hi-Standard ...etc.). I would certainly upgrade if I become really enamoured but ...has anyone had experience with these guns. I already own a Norinco Commander clone and it is an excellent gun for the price. Thanks in advance.

i own one and have been quite happy with it just as accurate as a ruger or hi standard, mags are crappy, but i found a suitable aftermarket replacement.

I was thinking about one as well ........what do yo do for mags ?

I want a .22 pistol and was thinking about a few things
trade ex has a few nice ones as well ........might need work but hey why not?

Nork Woodsman

I got a secondhand lemon from a fellow who bought it at Lever Arms (no warranty). I knew it had issues and I fiddled with it for a few months, different ammos, etc. and finally traded it in on a Ruger Mk III 22/45, getting back what I paid for it, which was only about $75.

If you're getting one, get it from Marstar so you won't have problems with fixing/exchanging should you have problems. Sharp edges, but nice and small - when it worked it was fun.

Capp325: See, I'm not mindlessly pro-Nork all the time :)

i've got one of the ones from lever, but i guess i got lucky, or it was a good run- the diff in price amounted to that there were 2 mags with lever, and shipping to calgary was a heck of a lot less than what marstar wanted at the time

iused the triple K mag for the early model woodsman. doesn't hold open on the last shot and requires a bit of a wiggle to load it, but feeds flawlessly.

I got one from armco when he had some, I've had nothing but god luck with it. For something cheap, its worth it, in my opinion

I have one as well, only been out with it a few times. I already had a number of quality handguns and just wanted a cheap plinker and for that it works fine. But if you want to try Bullseye I don't think it's the best choice...(sights are too small)

Yeah, don't buy this with the intention of shooting bullseye, sights are not really made for target shooting. Trigger is nothing to brag about either.
For a cheap tin can plinker it's good to go. You can usually find a used MkI target for not much more $$ which would be a better choice for target shooting.

I got one here a while ago. I will be contacting John when I get home from holidays as I can't get through a clip without a misfire. I have tried a few kinds of ammo too. I have also had some FTE's as well.

Other than that I will keep it if I can get it to work.

with rimfire , a lot of times it's the AMMO-esp the bricks of 500 or so- you might try "rotating"the round so the firing pin hits on a different part of the rim- i've done this to both duds i've had and "range duds" and an awful ot of the time it goes bang on the second try- other ties, a dud is a dud- and then if it still won't work, it gets a whack in the beretta- it's got an EXTERNAL HAMMER

I have two, one from Marstar, one from Gunnar. Better trigger on the Armco tuned one, but they both shoot about the same. Ditto on the ammo statement, keep trying until you find ammo they like. I bought mine for kids and newbies, they work great for that purpose. As to accuracy, well, I can plink the 4" steel disc at 50 meters all day long, that's good enough for a plinking gun. - dan

Mine has been a bit cranky, it has 6,000 rds or so through it and has never been taken apart, but cleaned regularly. It might just be the cold though causing issues. The sights do suck though. A great gun to let someone try out shooting or for someone on a tight budjet that wants a cheap to shoot 2nd gun.
